I'm a little curious as to what Bas' plans are. I wonder if he is just wanting to fight one or two more times or is he actually attempting to make some sort of comeback before hanging up the gloves for the final time. Whatever he is trying to accomplish, I hope it all turns out well for him. He seems to genuinely be one of the nicest guys in and around the sport of MMA.

I hope so as well. He is fun to watch, and fun to listen to when he commentates for PRIDE fights. I wish that they would have Trigg and Bas commentate the fights. Quadros is okay, but it would be cool to have Trigg and Bas.
It's funny, but Bas seems to speak a thousand languages. On the recent PRIDE FC show on FSN (it was a repeat that I had not seen before), Bas was commentating on a fight that involved Overeem (not Valintijn, but his brother). Bas was translating what Overeem's corner was saying to Overeem in the fight. Quadros said something like, "I didn't know you spoke Dutch." And, Bas said, "I don't." LOL. What got me is that Overeem seemed to be doing what Bas said the cornermen were telling him to do.
BAS knows MMA!!!

Bas speaks four languages, I can't remember what they are. He was kidding about Dutch though, he's from Holland. So he speaks English, Dutch, but not Japanese or Portuguese.

Cool video, Id not seen any of Bas's fights before so I was interested to see this. After being used to him as a commentator with such a great personality, its hard to imagine him enjoying beating people up lol.
Im really looking forward to his return fight against Kimo, hopefully Bas'll take him out with one of his famed liver shots!

Sherdog lists Bas Rutten's fights, but there's nothing past 1999. His record was 20-0-1 in his last 21 fights. Pretty impressive. What happened to make him quit? Some sort of injury?
(PS Ken Shamrock was the last guy to beat Bas, in 1995).

He said numerous injuries over the years caused him to stop fighting. But now he's having a "comeback fight" and does continue to train other fighters.
