Nate Diaz is being given his first title shot next month on the 21st vs. Hermes Franca in the WEC in Lemoore CA.


On paper, this fight makes sense. For those who don't know anything about the WEC....It's a tougher organization than the silliness shown in KOTC and other amateur run orgs..


Anyway. Any thoughts on Diaz vs. Franca? I think Franca is way more expereienced, has the balls and skillz to dominate Nate. But...

Nate is no joke either. He can easily hang with Hermes toe to toe, but I think BJJ wise, it's pick your poison. Hermes straight from Brazill JJ, or Nate's outstanding hybrid Caesar/Charlie Gracie game mixed with some crazy Stockton Pro Boxing influences......


I'll say, I'm 50.50 right now on who will win, but leaning towards Franca

i dont know much about nate but i am a huge fan of hermes, what a great fighter . who does hermes train with?

I think Hermes trained with a machado camp back in Brazil and has his black belt in Machado BJJ. He also I know trained with the Vale Tudo guys over there like Pedro Rizzo and them.

Nate is solid on the ground, but so is Hermes. Nate has average standup and that could hurt him vs. Hermes who can throw.

I wanna see a good grappling brawl!

It says on MMAWeekly.com that Franka defeated Nathan Diaz via armbar in the second round to defend his belt.

I watched it last night in HD. Nate DIaz did look very good in that first round easily winning it 10-9. Hermes was reborn in the second and was like a machine. Threw a lot of very good shots and had a brillant armbar sunk deep. Nate tapped very quickly as it appeared his arm was very hyperextended. Don't think he got hurt though.

It was a good fight and I have to give Nate Diaz credit he did look pretty good. But Hermes is a tough dude and he came to fight.
