I thought it timely since the UFC acquired the WEC to talk about WEC fan favorite Olaf Alfonso from the Odo Fight Club in Mexico.
He's a strange character, kinda has the Jesus look going, he always walks into the cage deliberately cross-eyed. He's a mysterious character, rumors are he's a former Delta Force guy or something and has written many military hand to hand combat books under a different name.
He has unorthodox grappling. A strange mix of Judo like throws and holds mixed with some sort of hybrid Jiu Jitsu style for those who have not seen him. He's well spoken and extremely knowledgeable about fighting. He's broken his nose something like 30 times and his trademark is that He Never Taps Out. Many judges have had to literally tap out for him by stripping the submission hold off of him while he's either A)Choked Out or B)Something is broken or C)He's KTFO.
Razor Rob MCCullough KTFO of Olaf on May 5th in the WEC, shattering his jaw to which Olaf (shattered jaw and all) flipped MCCullough off while exiting the cage in a stretcher.
He's a .500 fighter, not particualrly technical, but I think the UFC would be well advised to have a fight or two with Olaf for the UFC fans. I think they'd go banannas for the guy, he's just one of those guys you scratch your head and go WTF? But he definitely brings it each and every fight.
Anyone know more about the Mysterious guy Olaf?????? I know he got his ass handed to him at a pride event not too long ago,but I forgot by who.. Still hope we see more of him hopefully in the UFC.
Every sport has to have a weirdo.
And if you think you know what a broken nose looks like, until you see Olafs nose ,you aint seen a broken nose yet. His nose is so jacked up, it points in 9 directions!
