Cheap Da'Ron Payne Jersey , Trent Williams came to his teammate's defense and within seconds the multiplayer melee spilled into the crowd. And that was just Day One of the joint workouts between the New York Jets and Washington Redskins.Tempers have flared at times between Jets and Redskins players, though things were calmer Monday after a couple of fights and a handful of skirmishes marred their first practice together. But a day of being on their best behavior could be more of an anomaly than a Kumbaya trend leading up to their third and final practice Tuesday and preseason matchup Thursday."A bunch of young guys. It's to be expected," veteran Redskins tight end Vernon Davis said. "We can't control what the Jets are doing. They have to be on the same wavelength when it comes to going out there and practicing smart and practicing better. And if they're not, then someone from our side is going to respond. It could get out of control."The majority of players and coaches were annoyed that fights overshadowed the benefits the joint workouts: getting to see action against another team outside of games. Washington running back Chris Thompson and some teammates, who were around when fights broke out with the Houston Texans at training camp in 2015, even questioned the wisdom of bringing another team in â€" which the Redskins didn't do either of the past two years."I think you ask around the league, I think a lot of guys will probably say they don't really care for the joint practices just because of things like this happening," Thompson said. "There's not many joint practices where you don't have fights."Knowing the Jets were coming to town, linebacker Zach Brown said former Redskins teammate Terrelle Pryor should watch out if he makes one-handed catches. Brown said over the weekend the situation would be fine but cast doubt on Pryor practicing, which he wasn't wrong about because the receiver revealed he broke his ankle in May and is still working to be 100 percent.Pryor, whose operation was previously referred to as a cleanup, flashed a smile and said it's a miracle â€" "it's amazing" â€" he's on the field. He doesn't think it's a miracle that the Jets and Redskins managed to cool down after pushing, shoving and swinging at each other Sunday."We're all trying to get to Week 1 healthy to help our respective teams," said Pryor, who won't play Thursday at Washington. "We're handling it professionally and we can take care of that on the field on Thursday, the hitting and all that. But right now let's get better. Let's make each other better."Football-wise, the Jets' focus seems to be on getting rookie quarterback Sam Darnold more work with the first team after the third overall pick's stellar preseason debut. On the Redskins' side Youth Brandon Scherff Jersey , coach Jay Gruden has to sort out his running back situation after rookie and presumptive starter Derrius Guice tore the ACL in his left knee and was ruled out for the season.Fighting Sunday got in the way of that and ticked off Gruden and New York counterpart Todd Bowles because it took time for their players to cool down and wasted practice time."They're not going to get any better fighting us and we're not going to get any better fighting them," Bowles said. "We're not trying to fight them. They're not trying to fight us. If they wanted to be boxers and wrestlers, they probably would be in another sport."That doesn't mean fights won't flare up. Johnson called it "friendly competition" and didn't seem to think it was so bad."Competition at its finest," Johnson said. "It's one of those days in camp where guys start fights. When you practice against a new team for the first time during camp, I guess that's what happens. It's a little competition that got heated up."Moses was so heated Sunday afternoon that Gruden escorted him off the field to calm him down. He wasn't injured and was back Monday, but Williams didn't take kindly to what he and the Redskins perceived to be a cheap shot."We reacted how we reacted," Williams said. "There's no repercussions out here, so stuff can go a little further."Referee Carl Cheffers and his crew are supervising the workouts, but he said he's letting coaches break things up rather than the officials policing the field. That'll change when the Jets and Redskins meet in each team's second preseason game Thursday."If that happens in a game, there's multiple ejections and penalties that will cost our football team," Gruden said. "And that's the most important thing we got to make sure we get across."NOTES: Bowles wouldn't say if Darnold will start Thursday, sticking to his line that "all three quarterbacks need to be ready." ... Redskins WR Josh Doctson was among those who did not practice, but the team did not say why. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers average 446.8 yards of offense per game. They beat that average by more than 60 yards against the Redskins 11th ranked defense today. And lost.Tampa Bay put up more than 500 yards of total offense and scored just 3 points.Part of the reason was two missed field goals â€" one each in the first & third quarters â€" by the Tampa Bay kicker, Catanzaro, but the biggest reason was great individual plays by a number of Redskins defensive players through out the game.Josh Norman INT1st Quarter 10:44On the game’s first drive, the Bucs had driven 60 yards and were in the Redskins’ red zone.Ryan Fitzpatrick threw a pass to the the goal line that was intercepted by Josh Norman and returned over 30 yards, setting the tone of the ballgame. Tampa Bay self-destructionThis was a game where Tampa Bay repeatedly drove the ball downfield â€" they marched inside the Redskins’ 25 yard line five times â€" then either self destructed via penalty or missed play Womens Matthew Ioannidis Jersey , or turned the ball over due to hustle and smart play by the Redskins defense. In addition to Catanzaro’s two missed field goals, Mike Evans dropped a touchdown pass with 3:39 left in the 4th quarter that could have kept his team alive.Instead, Ryan Fitzpatrick lost a forced fumble on the very next play to kill any chance that the Bucs still had.Preston Smith & Ryan Kerrigan4th quarter 03:36That lost fumble on Tampa Bay’s last meaningful drive occurred on a sack by Preston Smith, in which Ryan Kerrigan reached in to force a fumble, and then fell on top of the loose ball. From there, the Redskins mostly just handed the ball off to Adrian Peterson and ground out enough first downs to simply kill the remaining clock and ice the game.Ryan Anderson & HaHa Clinton-Dix4th quarter 10:56The Kerrigan forced fumble was the second of the game.Probably the single most important play of the game by a Redskin was made by Ryan Anderson on a check down pass to Jaquizz Rodgers.Chris Spielman, analyzing the game from the booth, did agreat job of highlighting what made Anderson’s play so impressive.No. 52 was rushing from his LOLB position with Tampa Bay threatening inside the Redskins red zone again, and seeing the checkdown pass, turned and chased the ball.He came up behind running back Rodgers, punched the ball out with his right hand and still wrapped up the runner for the tackle. The ball flew a long way, rolling into the Redskins’ end zone where it was covered up by Clinton-Dix for a touchback.Greg Stroman INT4th Quarter 14:07 Tampa Bay suffered THREE turnovers in the 4th quarter. Before the two fumbles, rookie CB Greg Stroman stopped the Buccaneers’ first driveof the quarter by intercepting a pass intended for tight end O.J. Howard. The rookie was in the game because Quinton Dunbar was out injured, and Tampa Bay spent much of the first quarter abusing Danny Johnson in coverage.Stroman’s interception led to a Dustin Hopkins field goal, the final score of the game by either team, to put the Redskins up by 13, forcing Tampa Bay to have to score two touchdowns to get back into the game. That pressure to score resulted in the late turnovers and the dominant win by the Redskins. The Redskins kicking game - Tress Way & Dustin HopkinsTress Way continued his fantastic play this season by again pinning Tampa Bay inside their own 20 FOUR TIMES without once causing a touchback. The only punt that didn’t end up inside the 20 was caught for a fair catch at the Tampa Bay 22.It was Womens D.J. Swearinger Jersey , ironically enough, Way’s incredible punting that allowed Tampa Bay to accumulate over 500 yards of offense, because they started every drive with a long field. One punt in particular was very impressive by Way, as it hit near the 5 yard line, and â€" without any gunners from the coverage team nearby â€" the ball simply died and rolled to a stop at the 4 yard line.Dustin Hopkins was perfect on three field goals, hitting from 43, 33, and 26 yards, as well as adding the PAT on the Redskins’ sole touchdown of the game, a 4th quarter catch by Doctson to finish an 8-play, 47 yard drive that began in the third quarter after the Bucs kicker missed his second attempt. In a 16-3 win, the kicking game played a huge role. The standingsThe Redskins are all alone in first place in the NFC East, with the 2nd & 3rd place teams (Philly & Dallas) playing each other in the Sunday Night Football game. This is the first time the Redskins have been 6-3 since 2008.The Skins are tied for the third-best record in the NFC behind the Saints & Rams, who are both 8-1.The Redskins are well-placed to make the playoffs. The Redskins haven’t been winning on any ‘normal’ or ‘typical’ script this season, but they have been winning.Defense.Run Game.Positive turnover differential.Great punting. Reliable kicking.6-3.First place. Custom Buffalo Bills Jerseys
