There FDA has rules in place that limit the claims that can be made by manufacturers of supplements. you see it all the time, "this product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent and disease.". this in no way makes the claims by the manufacturer invalid. basically, according to law, the only products that can "diagnose, treat, cure or prevent disease" are drugs made by pharmaceutical companies. this was accomplished by the drug companies spending billions of dollars lobbying in Congress and elsewhere to have laws passed that favor thier interests. Herbs have been considered nature's pharmacy for centuries but since drug companies can't patent and make billions off of them they have chosen to try and discredit herbs by saying they are unapproved by the FDA.
