Water??
Hey, I've been trying to drink all the water that you're supposed to in a day. But, I find myself going to the washroom like every 20 minutes. It's quite inconvienient espically when I'm at work. Is there anything that will at least make my washroom breaks further apart from each other? Thanks

Yeah, jump up and down and hum a lot. It may help to get a grip on your package and sing the Star Spangled Banner, LOL When you drink water, the body will process it, there is not much to slow that down, except to drink less water. But, that would mean dropping down to the 40% dehydration rate that most people have normally. If you are training hard, than you should be sweating out a lot of water as well. Being dehydrated leads to heat stroke and other complications. It is just better to drink the water...

you're body will eventually adapt to the higher amount of water you are drinking. your bladder will eventually expand to hold more urine. of course if you're not active you're probably drinking too much water if you're going to the bathroom every 20 minutes. also if you drink any coffee or other caffinated beverage you should stop. Caffiene is a diuretic and will make you have to go even more often than you normally would.

That makes me want to cry, Crash! I am so addicted to my coffee that I am having a terrible time cutting it out of my diet. Coffee is water based, but it is not a substitute for water like some people have tried to tell me (I think they were just yanking my chain). Beer has water in it as well, but again it is NOT a substitute for the water that your body needs. I drink a lot of water, usually 6-8 of the .5 liter bottles (9 fluid ounces, aka a pint) of the Deer Park water bottles per day now. I try to only drink one cup of coffee in the morning, and maybe one decaf cup in the evening after dinner. It has been hard for me to cut back to that level

I have been told however that it takes a good bunch of calories to actually take a piss, some where in the 300 range, can anyone confirm this?
Supposedly along with the hydration and muscle gains this is one of the nice benefits of water.

are you saying that the act of pissing burns 300 calories? or do you mean that it requires X calories to process X amount of water? i know for a fact that drinking ice water burns calories, your body has to create heat to bring the ice water up to body temperture before it can exit your stomach and continue down the digestive track.

I'm not buying that pissing burns 300 calories. When I run three miles I'm only burning around 500. You're telling me I could stay home on the couch, piss twice, and be further ahead?

would'nt that be nice though? our toilets would do double duty as our gym. and if a piss burns 300 calories imagine what a poop burns?? in our obese society this can only mean that everyone is dehydrated and constipated.

Well to get this thread back on a serious note. This is a subject I have had ALOT of experience about recently. At boot camp we were encouraged to drink up to 15 canteens a day. Well the end result was several restroom breaks an hour. And when you add activity in to it you might be going every 10 minutes.
Now that I sit in school all day I have to be a lot more careful. And I have actually set up a drinking pattern that will have me drinking most of my water for that period about 25 minutes prior to the break. There are the occasions that I miss it but for the most part it works. And it keeps my hydrated for the day.
All in all I only drink a little caffeine a day and that is usually about 30 minutes prior to a workout. I don’t drink it in the morning and I avoid other things like soda and even red bull, despite some of my classmates’ almost complete reliance on the caffeine to stay awake during lecture. The only other think that I end up drinking is a glass of milk with breakfast and another when I take some supplements in the evening.
I find sticking to this actually keeps me more awake during the day and helps me perform better in the gym.

You said it. Adequately hydrating yourself improves your digestion, speeds your metabolism, gives you energy, and helps keeps your mind sharp. If the only trade-off is having to go to the can more often through the day, it's still totally worth it.

Ok, so 300ish is mad high, but I was actually thinking of the body heating to digest fact that Crash mentioned.
And on that note, I have to go burn me some calories

Right, and when you go to the can you're pissing out burnt fat anyway...so even going to the can is worth it.

LOL, I know you meant "fat" rather than "fact" but that was funny. We must all digest our facts, LOL.
