Do not shop GNC for brand names, they are way overpriced. GNC's brand is high quality, however, I simply cannot recommend GNC unless you are in a bind. Online is the way to buy. I would recommend Vitamin Shoppe if you need to shop at a local shop, otherwise check out netrition.com, supplementdirect.com, bodybuiling.com, bulknutrition.com, proteinfactory.com and find any quality protein BLEND. Assuming you have no allergies, get a blend with whey, casein, egg and even soy - proteinfactory will make any blend with any ratio you want, you can get different sweeteners or dextrose, maltodextrin, whatever, they will basically custom make whatever you want for a very reasonable price. I recommend a blend to get a complete and varied amino profile and variations in digestability. If you care to get more than one protein powder then take whey or soy post workout and slower digesting proteins to take throughout the day or at night.

Good brands are all over the place, I stick with very few, since I use egg and soy. Optimum Nutrition is my choice. I add dextrose postworkout mixed with my protein and soy milk.

Optimum Nutrition's 100 % Whey is the best bang for the buck. Get stuff off Ebay or www.buildingbrawn.com the prices are far better.

i use Designer Whey protein, for my source of whey. i also use a protein blend like rugger described. i buy most of my stuff from Nutrition Express, which is online. i've been buying from them for over 10 years and i feel they have good prices and service.
