Default Need advice on weight gain supplement

GNC is running a special on "Pro Performance Weight Gainer 2200 Gold" and I'm thinking about purchasing some. I've never used a weight gainer before and was just wondering what kind of weight it would be, muscle mass or fat? Or would it depend on how much I workout/exercise?

I'm about 5'6-7 and weigh 125-130 pounds. I train in shorin-ryu karate 2-3 times a week and try to work out 2-3 times a week but that doesn't always happen. I'm willing to really try and push myself though to see if this stuff works.

Sale ends 31st of October, any input/advice would be appreciated.

You are considering a weight gainer, but what about your diet?
Eating the right amount of nutrients is pretty easy, weight gainers have their place, but if you don't have a solid diet to build on then I would not suggest supplementation. There are a few threads about gaining weight in these forums already - very similar. Read through them - if you still have questions post up your diet. FOOD WORKS for skinny guys- I speak from experience.

GNC products are of the highest quality, if you find a good deal on them, take it. Generally you can find quality name brand product on the net much, much cheaper and if you have a Vitamin Shoppe retail near you - their prices usually can't be beat.

Oh, and don't think that 2200 is a magic number - you would likely need to break that up to 3-4 drinks in a day NOT 2200 cals at once that would be a complete waste.

Yeah I've already read through them but like you said, GNC is running a good deal and I thought I'd try it if it was worth it. If not I might just buy some more protein or start taking creatine esther.

weight gainers can be a waste of money, however some people need to consume so many calories that its not practical to do it through whole food. ideally you will use a shake to be an additional meal to the 5 smaller meals you should be eating throughout the day. if you only eat 3 meals a day than the weight gainer would be used to add an easy 4th and 5th meal to be consumed between the real food meals. i often use a protein shake type drink after my workouts since i don't enjoy eating right after a hard workout.
weight gain drinks are just another tool that when used properly can be very helpful. use it wrong and you'll end up fat.
