Be careful where you buy your supplements!!
It was reported on the news today that various supplements have been tested, and some of them contained steroids, which was not mentioned on the box descriptions. I am not kidding, please make sure your sources are reliable.

This is an old trick used by supplement companies. Add some real product to the newest thing your selling, everyone who tries it gets awesome results and has faith in the product. A month into production, cut the good stuff and people still buy it for years on end on blind faith!

not sure the FDA allows that for too long without putting those companies out of business..

The FDA very loosely regulates dietary supplements, but basically relies on the manufacturer to guarantee a product's safety and contents.
Its not until the FDA gets a certain amount of consumer complaints before they will investigate. This gives supplement makers plenty of leeway to include illegal contents to enhance the effects in the initial production, then scale it back after it has been established. Independent research labs have found many contents that are not listed on a supplements content list.
Bottom line, you can never truly be sure of what a supplement has in it. The bigger and more established manufacturers are the more consistent.

Yeah, and who is going to file a complaint that a supplement works too well?

You're joking, right? If I thought I was only taking natural supplements containing no banned substances, and then I tested positive and got suspended for it, I'D complain.

Couldn't you make a case on the manufacturer not adding that to their ingredient list and so you had no idea you were taking banned substances?

This sounds like what Vitor Belfort got hit with here recently and got a 9 months suspension from the NSAC. He claims to have bought an over the counter suppliment from a store in the U.S. and then he tested positive. Makes you wonder. I feel bad for him if he really didnt do it on purpase. He lost a lot of sponsorship over this and his reputation is tarnished now.

you can look at it the same way the law looks at it. "ignorance of the law is no excuse".
