He's the dude that Hulk Hogan first won the championship from in 1984, and he was most famous for being in a tag team with a pretend Russian (actually Croation) dude named Nikolai Volkoff. When the whole Rock & Wrestling thing happened back in the mid-80s, he was right in the middle of it. Now he's old and cranked right up, apparently.

The good days of wrestling, I loved the Iron Sheik! Pointy boots, Camel Clutch and Hulk Hogan pinning him by hooking his hands together and holding on for the 1-2-3 is one of the most memorable moments in wrestling history for me.

He appears to be living a pretty interesting life. Just on the front page of his website, there are news items about getting ripped off for personal appearances, having a drug dealing limo driver steal his money, getting hospitalized with alcohol poisoning, getting in a car accident, getting in a public argument with the ultimate warrior and slapping an event promoter (captured on video by a fan), etc.

Seriously, this shows my age some, but I was a teenager and really into that first big explosion of pro wrestling. Hulk Hogan, Iron Sheik, Sergeant Slaughter, Ted DiBiasi, Ivan Putski, Pedro Morales, and Bob Backlund were some of the stars. They were followed by the Hart Foundation, Rick Rude, Jake Roberts, the Heartbreakers, Ultimate Warrior, and Undertaker. Great times back then in the pro wrestling industry.

The Iron Sheik is comepletely whacked out now. If you ever hear Superstar Billy Graham interviews, that guy is even crazier than the Sheik.

Anybody ever see the Documentary called "The self-destruction of the Ultimate Warrior"?
