Scientology
There was an interesting (albeit slightly biased) BBC documentary about Scientology shown here last night, I havent really heard much about this religion apart from when you hear the odd celeb talking about it
Anyway, the way this programme depicted the church was quite sinister, claiming they will follow and investigate anyone reporting on them and that they will try and ruin anyone who is against them. One man in Florida who is actively against them had posters put up around his hometown with a list of crimes he was committed for as a child and also his history/details etc
It also interviewed several parents who had lost their children to the faith, as the church alledgedly encourages any of its followers to "disconnect" themselves from any family or friends who disapprove of Scientology.
Unfortunately it was fairly anti-Scientology in its views, and Id have liked to have heard some good arguments from people who practice the faith and see what they had to say in its defence. The one spokesman who was on throughout the programme seemed very militant and didnt really provide a good argument, instead repeating the same lines over and over about how they only try to help people and then trying to discredit anyone who badmouthed the religion.
Has anyone here had any experiences with Scientology, or maybe there are members here are part of the church? There's supposedly over 200,000 followers of it here in the UK.

No idea mate, it was a pretty high profile show tho so I wouldnt be surprised. Maybe try checking the BBC website. Im sure it'll probably be on Youtube if you search for 'Panorama' and 'Scientology'.

I haven't read that much about it, and I don't plan too. All I know is Tom Cruise is a nut, and he acts like the "Scientology Spokesman", that's reason enough for me to stay away! LOL

When I lived in Austin, I would wait for the bus right in front of their church. They would always try and get me to take some personality test. Never did cause I figured it was some scam to get money out of me.

the Trapped in the Closet episode was great. Right up there with the old people driving one and the Ginger episode.

Haha, your first line makes no sense at all! Scientology does seem pretty weird, but so does any other religion to me...

^^^^Word.
I mean, the Almighty God wanted to forgive people's sins, so he sent his bearded long hair-having hippie son to be murdered by people. So that those people could have their sins forgiven...
Why didn't God just forgive the sins like that? He can do it all, can't he?
That's just bad work, man. I understand the "followers" of Jesus wanting to have a happy ending and everything, but at least come up with a story that makes sense.
I think South Park should be shown in schools on religion-classes.
They've covered a lot of them. It's always funny. Funny and true.
The mormon episode was a classic too.
Dum dum dum dum...
