what do you do with your time?
many of us seem to have similar interests, with MMA or boxing being some of them.... but that cant take up all the time. Im going through the type of thing where im trying to get over several serious addictions (to various things) and am trying to fill the time i would have doing those things with new heathier safer things...
so what do you all like to do?
thanks for any input as always! :sport-smi

Getting over any serious addiction will take a little more than filling up your free time. If it is in your budget I would strongly suggest professional assistance. Most insurance companies cover rehab to some degree also.
If you have already sought out the assistance you need and are looking to fill in the down time i would say mix it up. Try something new every chance you get. You never know what you might enjoy, even if it sounds silly. When I was first trying to get of speed I kind of got into knitting.

World of Warcraft is ruining my life. Does that count?

I have a friend who is also addicted to WOW. Thats some serious ****.
To answer the thread question , i play ALOT of poker. 4-6 hours a day either online or in the casino. I too once had a gambling problem. I know ... poker is gambling .... but i dont lose money at poker. I used to play black jack , roulette , pia gow , and a few others. Lost alot of money. Besides the poker , i play baseketball with my wife almost everyday , play road hockey once in awhile , and golf a few times a week. Rest of my time is spent sleeping or watching movies and MMA.

My wife says I'm addicted to MMA and Fight Forum. She calls it my girlfriend and I am cheating on her with it.

Anything outside, you'd be surprised what a good walk and a clear mind could transition into.

Do you actually train in MMA? For me, it made me start to take care of my body more so I can do better in the next training session and so I can improve more.
Also, I play badminton occasionally, and I play the drums.

Three years ago I got caught up in the poker excitement playing many, many hours. After all the hours of playing I actually came out on top but probably made as much per hour as a guy picking up cans on the side of the road. I'm glad those days are over though (constant poker not good on the marriage).
Now I spend more time with the family, play some tennis, lift weights, and of course spend time on FF (even though you suckers pick at me for defending Mr. Sylvia). I hope the next great invention is the FF Timer which allows you to only spend so much time on FF. I'd have to get me one.

thanks for everyones opinions... its much appreciated... yea ive played poker for 5 years alot, but its to the point now where instead of winning everytime like some say they currently do, i lose lots everyday... regardless its a bad longterm habbit... i just find myself sitting around bored out of my mind and then i get myself into trouble from there i think

You should really be more specific.

I think this option comes closest to what he was describing, with sit on both endsof the "rope".

I've been playing poker with the same group for about ten years, so I'm happy to say we were ahead of the craze. Granted, we didn't start playing Hold'em until we saw Rounders, which I think is what got a lot of new people into poker.
Obviously I'm a gym nut, and have been since about 2000-2001. I dig video games, but don't play them as much as I used to. My WoW account is currently NOT active, which is a good thing. When it is, it can eat up 6-8 hours a day. It's an ugly and dangerous hobby.

lol, hand-party time.
I join clubs and stay active as much as possble, I try and have a sport a day. Ju Jitsu on monday, Soccer on tuesday, cricket on wednesday, thursday is work out, friday is crikcet again, week-end is golf. That keeps me active most of the time. I play poker, but nothing serious, it very relaxing to just sit and play for ages and ages.

What is this "reading" you speak of? Is that for PS3 or xbox 360?
