why is it when you guys say you are nerd you feel you need to back it up with... but i can fight? if your into computers your into computers dont feel the need to protect it.

iv never been into computers much, although by my FF career you wouldnt have knew it, im a fan of ff and bebo, i also chat to people on msn messenger but as far as memory, gigabites, graphic tabs etc im lost.

LoL I’m sure I qualify as one on some level.....I don’t think I look or act like what you would call a nerd but I do things only nerds seem to know how to do, Like run 4-5 OS’s on one system sometimes for no other reason then to see if I can and then I‘m like SWEET then delete um

But I’m probably the only one here that knows how to make a vending key out of clay and has been dropped by an ISP for “Hacker related activity” LoL kind of a funny story if anyone cares to hear it I’ll post it

I built the computer I'm on if that counts for anything. But other then that (Which was very easy and was simple knowledge, not really computer knowledge) I really don't know MUCH about computers. I don't play games much though.

Well the vending key thing I'm not getting into since I don't want to get blamed for someone breaking into a vending machine LoL, But it was talked about among a bunch of other things by a guy when I was looking up hacking info so it pops into my head when I think about it

As for the ISP thing.....I just find it funny.

I was running some software a few years back that monitored network traffic and this one IP address kept popping up on it showing possible attempts to access my computer, Not that I really care who gets on my computer since I don't have anything on it I'm worried about but I thought I'd have some fun and test some other software I had out.

So I load up a port scanner put in the info needed and start scanning this IP and a few ports show up as open so I access um saw a few files I can't even remember what they where but I think I clicked one or two and opened um nothing important like I said I don't even remember what it was.

So the next day I go to get online and it won't sign into my ISP, No big deal it goes down once in a while since it was a local ISP so I waited a while try again and still can't sign in, But its saying my user name and pass is not valid, So I'm like hmmm this is odd....Then I laughed and was like I wonder if they canceled my account for last night.

So I call them and they say something like O the "myname" account is that what your calling about ? I'm like yeah I can't get on.....They say O that's been suspended for hacker related activity and we are looking into it.....I was like what why ? And they say some site wouldn't give me the name called them and reported my IP as attempting to access a high security site.....So then I tell them I was only accessing them because my software showed they was trying to do it to me "Eye for an Eye"

So I'm like what ever ask them about my money since I had just paid the bill and they say they will prorate it and send me like 5$ in the mail......We talk a little more and I start getting mad and yelling at them and then they tell me that since I talked to them like that they are not going to look into it anymore and are not going to send me my 5$

The best part was when they told me while I was talking to them about it that the FBI may have already been notified.......That made me laugh, If anyone knows about computer crime they know there are so many cases that the FBI gets they don't even give it time of day unless there is a proven loss of thousands of $ from the so called crime.

What I really find funny is that my software free off the internet didn't let them get into my computer for what ever they were doing.....I think it was some kind of port scan attempt, But my free off the internet software found open ports on their computer.

Anyway I had no clue what I was doing at the time I was just playing around because they scanned my computer so i was going to do it back and then watch and see if they stopped.......Then I'm told it was some high security site and I must have scared them as a complete idiot at what I was doing that they had to call and get my account dropped.

It was pretty much nothing I didn't do anything and if I cared to I probably could have got my ISP and the site in trouble but I just called up another ISP and got a new account and back online

I just found it so funny that some so called high security site got scared of my retarded playing around......I didn't have a clue what I was looking at or how to even use the software I was on at the time, Pretty sad HIGH SECURITY when some kid that don't know how to hack scares you into thinking your getting hacked LoL

But thats pretty much it nothing came of it since I didn't do anything I don't do anything like that now not over the internet I like my ISP so if I care to play around and do things like that I just hook up my system to my other computer over a network and play around.

The most fun I have ever had was when I hooked my computer to one of my others using a TSP/IP network.....Infected one with a version of the sub7 Trojan and started using it.

Those things are so cool, I mean they would suck if you didn't know it was on your system but its fun to play with when you know its their.

You can do stuff like the Matrix when neo was sitting in front of the computer and it went black and was typing to him, You can hit a button make the other screen go black and start sending them messages its so cool

Hahaha sub7 was funny as hell! You could look through peoples webcams and all sorts of stuff. I used to mess with people when I was young but I gave it up quickly lol.

I have a funny story as well.

It was the last semester of high school, and I needed to pull off an awesome prank. After screwing around with stuff on the school computer when I was supposed to be doing my english paper, I had a sudden brain fart.. our infrastructure was very very old and after tracing things down scanning about a bit, I realize that the entire schools email system was based on the SMTP standard.

So I shoot one of my teachers an email from home asking about the aformentioned english paper. I got out of school at noon that day for some reason that I dont even recall, so I knew I would get a reply. Bingo.. viewed the extended message, got the IP.. went to telnet. Amazingly, I get a login window.

220 smtp.example.com SMTP Crummy old High School

cursor is blinking. I use the HELO command to manually initiate an SMTP mail transfer.

HELO xxx.Blackburn@example.net

I get the message that shocked me more than anything.. ever.

250 smtp.example.com Hello xxx.Blackburn@example.net

So from here I start toying around with an easy way to reach all recipients without having to do this one at a time, as I had already used BackOrfice to steal my next door neghibours ISP login info and I was on limited time. Several tries, several errors. all@example.net was my final try before I was ready to give up.

What happens?

250 all@example.net Recipient ok

DATA
354 Enter mail, end with "." on a line by itself

So I go on to type a long message about emergency assemblies to deal with a problem that recently came up with steroids being found in the football teams locker (it was all a load of ****, but it was serious enough for them to buy.

After all of this work, I get the 250 MAA31024 Message accepted for delivery message and log out.

The next day at school while I was in spanish class, my teacher tells us of the assembly (each class was set to meet in a different place.. made it all the more hectic). Some teachers let the students out early and they were all in the proper areas.. and RIGHT when we were about to be let out as well, here comes the principal frantically running up and down the hallway poking his head into each classroom and saying my favorite quote of all time:

"Please disregard the email, it was false and erroneous!" His face was as red as a sunburnt alcoholic.. mofo was PISSED off. The entire school was buzzing about this and nobody had any idea what happened. The theory was soon brought up that someone broke into the principals office and sent the email out from the physical location, so we were not allowed to loiter after school.

All of the computer teachers went ape shiiiiiiit, and the Network Administrator for the entire state came to investigate. Nothing else ever happened.

When I was graduating whilst shaking hands with the principal, I say 'Thank you, but this report is false and erroneous'. He starts to give me the evil eye and I worry that I incriminated myself.. but my friend was behind me and did the same thing, as did 8 or 9 other people.

Mr Blackburn retired that year, citing 'stress' in the local newspaper.

Theres a kid in one of my classes now that got expelled from highschool and put on about three years probation for doing a denial of service attack on his highschools email.

Im almost finished with one of my IT degrees now and studying for several certifications now. Not sure if Ill pass them first try or not but what the hell, I can always retake them.

I dont have much of a funny story but at least I had fun doing it. Its really simple too. I was in my redhat linux class and our teacher was using his console to do the slide show and all that for the presentation of class and showing hwo to access different stuff and what not. Well, the week before that, he showed several of us how to remote log in to other systems and how to do a few other things. We decided to not actually log into his system but about 10 of us in the back of the class all started pinging his machine nonstop. It took about two minutes and his computer just stops. He noticed us giggling like idiots and goes "oh, haha, real funny guys...so you wanna play do you? Lets try now."

He restarted his computer and told us all, the entire class, to try to do whatever we could to his machine. It took him about five minutes to shut everyone else out of their machines and we all had flashing text on the screens that said "ha ha ha, you all suck!"
