What kind of dog should I buy?
The roommates and I are looking for a dog right now but we can't decide on what to get. We were thinking chocolate lab, we have a big backyard at the new place but they seem to be hard to find around here.
You guys have any suggestions? Size is not an issue, we don't want some little weiner dog like a ****zu though.

I've had huskies, springer spaniels, and an English setter. But far and away, the best dog I've ever had is my black lab. Obedient, friendly, fun loving, and yet protective with good size, I'm not sure I'll ever go back to another breed. The Retrievers are for me.

Dogue De Bourdeax (dog off Turner and Hooch) excellent breed, although mine is half breed mixed with american bulldog, she is unbelievably good natured with me and my kids.

I have a chow/shepherd mix. Perfect dog. Good with the kids, obedient and a good protector.
Now all you have to do is go buy a chow and a german shepherd, do a little breeding and you are set.

sorry to correct you, GnP......
The Rhodesian Ridgeback is a large, handsome, muscular hound. Its name describes its most unique characteristic, a clearly defined symmetrical ridge running the length of its back, formed by hair that grows in the opposite direction from the rest of its coat. The short, sleek coat comes in light to dark wheaten, sometimes with small white markings on the chest and feet. The head is long, the skull is flat and broad with extremely powerful muzzle and jaw. Ridgebacks have well developed teeth, and a marked stop. The bright, sparkling eyes are round with an intelligent expression. The nose color should be either black or brown, depending on the color of the coat. The front legs should be very straight and strong, with heavy bone. The strong tapered tail is fairly long and curves slightly upward

Any dog that you can adopt from the SPCA will do. Save a life bro.

thats what i did a few years ago, she was 2 months old and she's an 1/2 Aussie
and 1/2 Bernese mountain dog. She is really friendly and playful. Much better than going to a pet store, and it makes you feel good when you do it.

If you have the space, then I would say get a German Shepard. They tend to be loyal, obedient, and very smart. I've had a police-trained German Shepard for about five years now. He's awesome. It's strange, but I can't imagine life without him. I also recommend Lab. Retrievers. They too tend to be highly intelligent dogs.

I've always liked bigger dogs myself....like Labs and huskeys but alot depends on house size, kids, and other situiations. In end you have to pick a dog that suits your lifestyle best there are so many choices its hard to just pick one
