Barbarism?

As for the original post. As a guy that has been in too many and seen far too many bar room brawls I can say with certainty that there nothing like MMA and anyone who thinks so hasn't seen enough of either to make a good opinion.

I personally am more offended by all the spitting in baseball. To each his own.

Fighters choose to enter the ring or the octagon...cocks do not.
Plus MMA is a lot more controlled nowadays. Time limits...medical suspensions...etc.

As for the gay thing...yeah sometimes it does looks a little gay but nowhere near as questionable as some fraternity hazing pranks (elephant walks, etc.) and general locker room nonsense.

Some people will never be convinced that MMA is not Barbaric. It is some of those same people that say that boxing is the more refined sport while MMA is a form of human cock fighting. The good news is that with the TUF reality show, the free shows that are offered, and the expansion of MMA, EliteXC, WEC, Ect. it is gettig out there what MMA is really about.

Hey buddy,
I understand were you are coming from. My perspective is this. I will tell you my beliefs because the BIBLE and Jesus said to. Whether you choose to accept them is your doing, not mine. My thoughts about you will not change one way or another. You can still be my friend. The Bible clearly states how to get to heaven and because you said that you don't want to be pressured, I, like others should have, will back off and give you your space. A better example of this is about the gay community in America and the Christian stand on it. My standpoint is that we should help, befriend them, aid them, and help them in anyway we can like everyone else. We just shouldn't be forced to accept what they do right. If I am stepping on toes I really am sorry but just thought that you in particular should know were many Christians, like myself stand.

Nice post, calm and fair.

One Love !!

PEACE:)

Well he watches Football fairly regularly and has on occasion watched boxing. I don't think the blood is neccessary the issue. The guy is a Vietnam Vet and has 16 years as an EMT under his belt so not really to squimishy about blood. I have noticed a trend sometimes with people who have been trained for combat that they don't consider MMA to be a "real" situation and think it is foolish to train/watch it. The interesting thing is that I am a combat vet myself and I am able to firmly place MMA in a sports category that I would use minimally if at all on a battlefield.
As for any violence to him one he is my father two it doesn't do any good to try and beat your views into someone. I am sure some here have dealt with family who have issues with MMA be curious to see how others solve them.

I have friends in MI that I turn on to MMA. The thing was funny about is the first ppv I made them watch, they saw the Joe Stevenson/Yve Edwards fight lol. The fight was so bloody, they were like "OH NO is he ok" lol. I try to explain there all not as brutal and bloody as this. We seen many ppv since, and they seem to enjoy it more and more once they started reconizing fighters and fighting styles. My bro on the other hand is a little more objective and he's slowly getting into it but still thinks it to "brutal".
If I could get people to like MMA by shoving it down their throats, I would.:D
I think MMA is the best sport in the world. It just might not be everyones cup of tea.:)

Any time man. And I'm pretty sure I am correct about the gay thing. I can prove it if I am permitted. It says to befriend all but not be swayed into wrong doings or accepting wrong things as right. But anyway, if you want to talk I would be happy too

Well...I wouldn't be surprised if you found something that said 'to befriend homosexuals' or something like that...there are plenty of contradictions to choose from in the Bible...but hey, that's for another thread...

I'm sure you realize the Bible has some pretty different things to say about that...Anyway, I'd be happy to continue a debate on religion, but it may be better suited in "the street fight" section... :p

I'm not trying to convince them of anything. I just want them to respect my believes and possibly many other fight forum members believes what is wrong with that. This is a fightforum were we talk about MMA and other sports not bash people's religion.

I agree, but this is the Internet. People will speak a lot more liberally and offensively. Just take comfort in your own beliefs.

Okay, I think that the problem is that you don't get the constant grandstanding from Jews or Hindues or even your run of the mill Catholics that you do from the neo- Christians. If you belive in this ' God ' why does every one else have to hear about it as well ? I think that the " I know the truth and you don't " stance is too much, as it is perpetuated all of the time in many over the top ways. I have heard Christians say that " hell is full of GOOD people that never accepted God as their savior " Is that fact or an opinion ? I just can't get with the non-acceptance of other faiths or non-faiths that is portrayed so loudly, can't it just be between you and your ' God " ?

I'm cool with it as long as stuff like this does not keep being brought up.

That's the thing, if it is brought up try to bite your tongue a little bit. Just let them say whatever they want to say when it comes to sensitive things like this, and it won't have a ripple effect. You aren't going to convince them of anything here. Especially Gooner

Such a ridiculous tangent to run off on. Let people believe what they believe and move on. Do you guys see this going in any positive direction? Why not just end it right here? Because it is only going to add to the "Why Is Fight Forum Falling Apart" thread.

Yeah, I already knew how you feel about this.
How could I express myself more clearly?
*insert clip of Shonie Carter saying "I don't give a ****" 20 times*

And I'm pretty sure "others" actually have enjoyed it.

Any "belief" can mean "so much" to someone.
I'll be damned if I give up my right to make fun of stupid people just because someone might be offended.
Especially if those people are responsible for holding back humanity every step of the way.

PS. Happy Holidays.

Yeah but we are on a friendly forum. I am not stupid, I am as smart as anyone else here. Just because I have different believes that are different than yours does not make me less intelligent. We are not holding back humanity like you say we are.

Why do you have to be so blatantly rude towards others? And not care if you are offending someone? I could easily put down and prove against atheism but I'm not. Why can't you show the same courtesy?
PS Merry Christmas

Still though, why must you continue to put down someone's believes that means so much to them. You may enjoy it but others do not. It really isn't a laughing matter where you just play it off. You really should not do that. I, and maybe some others, would like it if you just stopped. Thanks

No it isn't. As a Christian it is somewhat insulting.
