But seriously, I don't usually argue anything to people with those kinds of views.
Seems pointless imo. Like trying to convince a creationist that he's dead wrong.
However, I'll gladly edumacate people who aren't that negative to begin with.
no, Im dead right! Your are dead wrong in this life and the next. LOL

Anyway, just show him that in boxing is like checkers and MMA is like Chess. In boxing you have numerous head trauma and in MMA it may look more violent, it is actually safer. Perhaps someone at FF can give you an example of a technical match that may at least let him accept even though he does not like it.

No it isn't. As a Christian it is somewhat insulting.

I try to explain the different disciplines that are a prerequisite to even consider competing in MMA. I really try to give insight into the technical side of things; the guys not simply kneeing, he's applying the MT clinch that pulls down on the back of the head, where, biomechanically, it is nearly impossible to resist, they're not "humping each other", they're working principles of leverage and applying advanced technical maneuvers in order to gain dominant position, etc... That tends to neutralize the "barroom brawl" side of the fence. You can only lead a horse to water though, and some people are just so set in their ways that it's not worth the argument.

As for the "gay" thing, I almost enjoy when I hear that. I just politely offer to show them some of the "gay" moves and positions in BJJ, and even offer to let them wrestle around with me a little. No, I don't hurt them (well, maybe their ego a little), but I do get the point across. I've actually gotten some people to start training with that approach!

After careful consideration, I think I might have to change my views on this.

Seen it a long time ago. Still don't understand the need to make fun of something that means so much to someone...even if you do consider it false.

Still though, why must you continue to put down someone's believes that means so much to them. You may enjoy it but others do not. It really isn't a laughing matter where you just play it off. You really should not do that. I, and maybe some others, would like it if you just stopped. Thanks

Okay, I think that the problem is that you don't get the constant grandstanding from Jews or Hindues or even your run of the mill Catholics that you do from the neo- Christians. If you belive in this ' God ' why does every one else have to hear about it as well ? I think that the " I know the truth and you don't " stance is too much, as it is perpetuated all of the time in many over the top ways. I have heard Christians say that " hell is full of GOOD people that never accepted God as their savior " Is that fact or an opinion ? I just can't get with the non-acceptance of other faiths or non-faiths that is portrayed so loudly, can't it just be between you and your ' God " ?

Yeah, I already knew how you feel about this.
How could I express myself more clearly?
*insert clip of Shonie Carter saying "I don't give a ****" 20 times*

And I'm pretty sure "others" actually have enjoyed it.

Any "belief" can mean "so much" to someone.
I'll be damned if I give up my right to make fun of stupid people just because someone might be offended.
Especially if those people are responsible for holding back humanity every step of the way.

PS. Happy Holidays.

Yeah but we are on a friendly forum. I am not stupid, I am as smart as anyone else here. Just because I have different believes that are different than yours does not make me less intelligent. We are not holding back humanity like you say we are.

Why do you have to be so blatantly rude towards others? And not care if you are offending someone? I could easily put down and prove against atheism but I'm not. Why can't you show the same courtesy?
PS Merry Christmas

Such a ridiculous tangent to run off on. Let people believe what they believe and move on. Do you guys see this going in any positive direction? Why not just end it right here? Because it is only going to add to the "Why Is Fight Forum Falling Apart" thread.

I'm cool with it as long as stuff like this does not keep being brought up.

That's the thing, if it is brought up try to bite your tongue a little bit. Just let them say whatever they want to say when it comes to sensitive things like this, and it won't have a ripple effect. You aren't going to convince them of anything here. Especially Gooner

I'm not trying to convince them of anything. I just want them to respect my believes and possibly many other fight forum members believes what is wrong with that. This is a fightforum were we talk about MMA and other sports not bash people's religion.

Hey buddy,
I understand were you are coming from. My perspective is this. I will tell you my beliefs because the BIBLE and Jesus said to. Whether you choose to accept them is your doing, not mine. My thoughts about you will not change one way or another. You can still be my friend. The Bible clearly states how to get to heaven and because you said that you don't want to be pressured, I, like others should have, will back off and give you your space. A better example of this is about the gay community in America and the Christian stand on it. My standpoint is that we should help, befriend them, aid them, and help them in anyway we can like everyone else. We just shouldn't be forced to accept what they do right. If I am stepping on toes I really am sorry but just thought that you in particular should know were many Christians, like myself stand.

I agree, but this is the Internet. People will speak a lot more liberally and offensively. Just take comfort in your own beliefs.

I'm sure you realize the Bible has some pretty different things to say about that...Anyway, I'd be happy to continue a debate on religion, but it may be better suited in "the street fight" section...

Any time man. And I'm pretty sure I am correct about the gay thing. I can prove it if I am permitted. It says to befriend all but not be swayed into wrong doings or accepting wrong things as right. But anyway, if you want to talk I would be happy too
