So How did You train Your Dog?
I have a very obedient dog, have spent hundreds on training, he's toilet trained, but........
He's not house trained yet. He listens sometimes, doesent other times. But again is a very good dog overall.
So, short of me shooting my .40 at him? LOL jus kidding.
How can I make Him behave?
He goes ape**** half the time, but doesent break or destroy anything. He sniffs more than anything, but never is really destructive.
I just want FF members to give me tips on how they "house trained" their dog.

He gets excited when I come home and I understand that. But he goes nutz in his kennel when Visitors come. He hyperventilates, freaks out, etc.
He's a very good dog in many ways like I said. Doesent bite, even when you PO him, he's potty trained, but he freakin just doesen't listen I guess is what I'm saying.

I remember my parents bringing our dog to the scene of the crime and using a stern voice. A lot of it is by a schedule also, if your dog is expecting to go out every few hours then they will develop a tendency to wait.
Watch out though some behavior can't be corrected if it goes unpunished for a while. I have seen many owners who end up not being able to keep their dogs. My aunt had to give up her boxer

How old is the dog Krav? I had a Lab/Collie mix and it was almost the exact same way. As soon as the dog got to 2 years old it mellowed right out (had to be the lab in him).
Just make sure you use appropriate tones with the dog. They don't understand words but they sure as hell will know if you're angry. When commanding the dog make sure your voice is very stern. Also its good to reward the dog with treats (not too many now) and since i never like hitting animals i took an alternative approach to punishment. In wild packs if one animals does something wrong the alpha male will muzzle the dog. So i tried this whenever my dog would bark uncontrollably and surprisingly it worked, and far less cruel to the dog.

He's 8 mos. It's almost as though there's a power trip with the Lab part of him, but he responds well to correction, but just doesent remember.. For all intents and p urposes, he's a black labrador, but the medium/small stature of a terrier.
I joke that he's just retarded or something.
Here's a good example.
He barked his head off defensively at the Pool Guy the other day
What did my dog do other than sound VERY SCARY (which is great)
He rammed his head as hard as he could into the sliding glass door to go after the pool guy who he knows comes every Friday Afternoon
Like I said, he acts retarded.

I feel your pain, Krav. About 1 1/2 months ago my wife calls me at work and tells me, "I got a puppy!". I ask what type and she tells me it's a 10 month old golden retriever. I get home and the dog is huge! But it still acts like a puppy. It responds well to a stern voice, but like yours, can't remember what it gets in trouble for. I feel like I'm scolding it for the same stuff over and over.

i had an alsation that was like that. It would bark its head off if any one came near the property yet once they had been let in or the dog let out it was instantly docile with them.

I feel you pain as well. I have a lab/sheperd that is good around me but when a stranger comes around he go nuts. I just can't seem to get him to calm down around other people but I wish my dog were half terrier then at least maybe he wouldn't scare the heck out of people.
