I recently upgraded from XP to W7, and ive had no problems... the games run smoother and the interface is crisp and clean, and if you dont like the settings you can always change it to your own preferences.

If you are buying a new machine with 7 installed, that seems fine but I would not rush out and buy 7 to install it as an upgrade. I just dont think it is worth doing that over what you run now. I have to use a PC in the field with 7 and I just don't love it that much. You can find more reviews than you can read on the google...Try that too.

Well I have been researching this os for sometime now & have spoken with people at work and such who have been running it since beta and so far they love it.

Most of those people also had never used Vista such as myself.

On the internet I find much more good reviews and from both Vista & XP users then I do bad.

I like coming here as well because I trust FF members and their opinions.

I decided that since I had ignored Vista & that since there were so many more good reviews then bad & the bad ones mainly fall in a category of figuring out how to use Windows 7.

I figured out that a lot of the unsure folks were XP users who were not familiar with Vista so they were a bit confused as I am myself but I must say this is so much smoother, faster, and way easy to learn.

I really am enjoying this OS so far.

IMHO W7 is HANDS DOWN the best OS. ESPECIALLY if you do any gaming.

I am an early adopter for what it's worth and I can tell you from experience that Vista was a turd, but W7 got it right.

Well that sounds like good news. Care to elaborate just a bit? Why is 7 so much better? I've only used Vista a tiny bit on others computers and didn't like it but really don't know that much about it. It sounds like if its good for gaming it must not be too processor intensive. I'm looking to get a new comp sometime soon and use it mostly for recording so I like this news. I know gaming and recording both require a good OS.

I'm a diehard computer guy, and I have used all sytems. Been on W7 for along time in beta and I used Vista as well. obviously I used Xp forever.

Now that most drivers are now made for this system you really can't lose unless you have a software program that is only made for XP.

If you have any doubt, dual boot first, but I can't say enough about W7.
PS I've been on W7 64 for about 8 months now.

Thanks guys for the answer.

The only concern I have right now is windows adviser is giving me 4 items that may not be compatible but i'll be damned these items won't update.

I know a little about computers to so I know it's not just me lol.

I will try windows 7 and see what happens with those issues.

I am in the process of doing a transfer.

Windows Xp vs Vista vs 7

So with these results, what do you get from all of this?

To me, it looks as though Windows Xp is still the best choice for an operating system. Sure the others look nicer, but in terms of performance I think Xp is the one to go with on average. Yes Vista and 7 have DirectX 10, but how much of a difference does that really make? Vista and 7 have Aero, but again that just makes things look nice, theyre nice tweaks and little improvements to usability but in terms of performance it doesnt do much except maybe hinder it.

Maybe I could turn Aero off and see what kind of results I get then? Ive always wondered what kind of impact it has on the system.

I am debating on getting Windows 7 and upgrading from XP.

I have had XP since it came out and never went to Vista thank god lol but I am reading a lot about how much better Windows 7 is even for speed and security over XP.

So has anyone gotten this and do they see a difference?
