I haven't watching wrestling in so long. It's probably been a few years since I watched my last match.

I personally don't think I would go that far but I see the point. I think it is a good think that Fight forum has gone this long without one of the WWE dicussion threads like the ones that pop up on sherdog.

I used to love WWF and WCW but have watched maybe a grand total of 2 hrs over the past 5 years. I at one time had 70+ WWF PPVs on VHS/DVD and have since sold off 75% of them. It is just to trashy now and I guess I grew out that stage also.

I was a huge, huge, huge pro wrestling fan from around the first Wrestlemania until about... lemme see. The last Wrestlemania I remember caring about was IV. Through that time, though, I was into every federation I could get info on -- the NWA, the AWA, the WWF, the UWF, New Japan, and all the regional subsidiaries like Mid-South, Pacific Northwest, Stampede, etc.

All-time favourites would be the Road Warriors, the British Bulldogs, Ronnie Garvin, Dusty Rhodes, Bam Bam Bigelow, Nikita Koloff, Arn Anderson...

TNA is terrible. If I wanna see people flipping around in a ring, I'll go to the circus. TNA is the worst pro wrestling I've seen.

WWE is terrible. Cheerleader tag team champions, which is a 5 man team... That new cuban guy, w/ the cigar, which is a sweeping generalization.... One of their new attractions in "The Boogieman". WTF, are you kidding me? Rey Mysterio has the WWE heavyweight title. What does he weigh, 180 LBS?

Pro wrestling SUCK!

That is a good line-up. I like all of those guys. I would add that I liked The Four Horseman when it was Ric Flair, Arn and Ole Anderson (aka The Minnisota Wrecking Crew), and Tully Blanchard with James J. Dillon as the manager. That was a great group. They feuded with Dusty Rhodes (breaking his leg), The Rock 'N Roll Express (breaking Ricky Morton's nose), Nikita Koloff, and The Road Warriors. They always had most of the titles in the NWA.

IMO, The Road Warriors were at their best with Precious Paul Ellering as their manager. I liked it when they added Jake The Snake Roberts to the Road Warriors as an honorary member. The Snake had the new move called The DDT that was just awesome when I first saw him using it... At the time, I think it was the one move no one got up from. Now people use it a lot and it seems far less impacting then when Roberts used it.

The Warriors were good with one-liners like: "When we're done with you' it'll look like we set fire to your face and put it out with an axe!" LOL, classic.

A little trivia about Animal: The son of "Animal" (James Laurinaitis) plays outside LB for the Ohio State football team. He saw starting playing time in 2005, as a freshman, against Michigan in place of injured LB Bobby Carpenter. As of spring 2006, he is set as a starter. James Laurinitis' nickname is "Little Animal" in honor of his father.

I was also a huge fan of Nikita Koloff. I loved the old Russian team. That was during the 1980's -- a great decade for pro-wrestling.

Pro wrestling SUCK!
Now come on, tell us how you really feel.

I thought that MMA fighting proved that size does not matter. Why take issue with Rey Mysterio (aka Óscar Gutiérrez Rubio)? Sure, he is 170 lbs when he is soaking wet, but that does not mean he cannot win. Plus, he is hugely popular and marketable.

The Boogieman was an attempt to market a pro-wrestler that went for the gross out factor as we often see on Fear Factor. It failed, and now the idea is cast aside. You won't see the Boogieman anymore in the WWE.

Pro-wrestling is hugely popular. A billion dollar a year industry. The WWE currently has the lion's share of the market, but TNA has carved out a niche that will NOT soon dissappear. That is why Sting is now there. He pledged to never work for McMahon regardless of the money. TNA is the promotion that came out of the remnants of the collapse of WCW. They use all the wrestlers that ECW and the WWE chose not to market.

Samoa Joa is the best of the new breed of pro-wrestlers. He likes to use the rear-naked choke (an MMA hold) to finish his opponents. Rumor has it that Tito Ortiz taught Samoa Joe a lot of MMA holds. Right now, The Samoan Submission Machine (as Samoa Joe is often called) is set to fued with Scott Big Poppa Pump Steiner. It is just good storyline for pro-wrestling.

In many ways, TNA is superior to the WWE.

Of course weight doesn't matter. But, how can a 180 LBS man win the HEAVYWEIGHT title... Does WWE know what weight classes are, or did they just hear it somewhere and think it was cool...

TNA is terrible. It's THE MOST fake thing I've EVER seen. Drop kicking someone will not cause them to flip 3 times in the air and land 10feet away. Unless Bruce Lee is behind that foot.

And I wasn't talking about Samoa Joe. I dpm't waste enough time watching TNA to knowmuch about him. I'm refering to that new Cuban trainer on WWE raw.

In closing, pro-wrestling sucks. But, I don't think any less of pro-wrestling fans. To each his own.

Ring Raider for a hater of pro wrestling you sure seem to know a lot of what you're talking about. Dude it's okay to admit if you are a fan. If you're ashamed you don't have to talk about it.

There are two weight classes. CW and HW. Since it is not real competition, they do not follow any sort of strict guidelines. If Rey Mysterio is the HW champ, then they can throw The Big Show at him. That guy is 500 lbs. That is a 500 lbs man versus a 170 lbs man. THAT is pro-wrestling. AND, they used to just have ONLY the HW title. The CW title was added later. Since RAW and Smackdown are treated like two separate promotions, Mysterio cannot go for the CW title if it is not on his show.

As far as I'm concerned, you have absolutely no clue what you are talking about. You never watched pro-wrestling, and therefore your opinion means absolutely nothing in this thread. I do think less of you for that.

Yeah, I know a thing or 2 about wrestling. I've watched it since I was a little kid. I still remember the first woman vs. man match. My little brother still watches it, so I catch a little bit of the current stuff every once in a while.

So, for the bland attacks, I DO know anything about wrestling. I know more than most people on this board about pro wrestling. And, I know enough to know today's pro wrestling it terrible.

That last comment is subjective. You don't like it? Okay, no problem. The billion dollar pro-wrestling industry does NOT depend upon nor even need you. It will do just fine without your liking it or your interest in it. True fans will always support it. Pro-werstling fills stadiums where MMA has trouble filling arenas. They now have four major brands running shows on four nights every week (ECW was just added to the Sci-Fi Channel's progamming schedule).

So, why do you care?

Why even post in this thread, if you dislike it?

I don't care. If you don't care, why argue with me? Why does it upset you so much? I'm giving a mature, respectful opinion. You're sitting here getting all offensive. I live in American, and I live in the real world. I have to respect the fact that other people have different opinions than me. If they don't, I try and give them my argument. If they still think they're right, I accept that and move on. You, however, have trouble grasping that. Does McMahon need my money? No. Do I give a rat's azz whether the WWE needs me or not? Of course not.

I suggest getting some people skills. This is a forum, everyone is here to post their opinion. Nothing more, nothing less. I try and give you and your opinion respect, and you're pretty much spitting in my face.
