NFL week 6 Previews
Here's NFL week 6 Previews (courtesy of USA Today)
New York Giants (+2½) at Atlanta
The Giants got a much-needed win Sunday over the Redskins, and the Falcons had their bye week to get ready. Go with the home team that had a week to prepare, not to mention a home team that has beaten the Giants the past three times the two teams have played.
Falcons 24, Giants 17
Carolina (+2½) at Baltimore
There's no doubting Baltimore's defense. But that offense, even with Steve McNair, is not producing enough points. After starting 0-2, the Panthers are slowly getting into playoff form. It's not an easy pick, but the Panthers are the better team.
Panthers 16, Ravens 13
Houston (+13) at Dallas
When two in-state teams get together, you can throw out the records. Oh wait, that's for college football.
Cowboys 27, Texans 20
Buffalo (pick 'em) at Detroit
The Bills, while inconsistent, are the better team. But the Lions have to win a game this season sooner or later, don't they? Not necessarily. The Lions are banged up, especially on the offensive line, and receiver Roy Williams suffered an injury Sunday vs. Minnesota.
Bills 23, Lions 20
Philadelphia (-3) at New Orleans
The Eagles and Donovan McNabb are rolling, and not even the lovable Saints, not with their defense and not with Reggie Bush and Drew Brees, will be able to stop Philadelphia.
Eagles 27, Saints 21
Seattle (-3½) at St. Louis
The Seahawks had a week to think about the 37-6 shellacking they received from the Bears. Seattle gets to take its frustration out on the Rams and their misleading 4-1 record.
Seahawks 30, Rams 23
Cincinnati (-6) at Tampa Bay
Like the Seahawks, the Bengals had a week off to reflect on a loss, a 38-13 home defeat to New England. Like the Seahawks, the Bengals will recover with a road win.
Bengals 24, Buccaneers 16
Tennessee (+9½) at Washington
The Redskins better be ready. The Titans went into Indianapolis and nearly came away with a victory. What's stopping Tennessee from beating an average Redskins team? Don't think it will happen, but if the Redskins are caught sleeping, this could be Vince Young's first NFL victory.
Redskins 20, Titans 14
Miami (+2½) at N.Y. Jets
The Jets were looking OK until that 41-0 debacle at Jacksonville. Miami looked a little better in its loss to New England. But still, neither team is ready to challenge New England in the AFC East. Which team wants to take the measure of the Bills for second place in the division?
Jets 23, Dolphins 16
Kansas City (+7) at Pittsburgh
The Chiefs snuck out of Arizona with a victory. It's doubtful they will be able to do the same against the desperate 1-3 Steelers.
Steelers 23, Chiefs 17
San Diego (-10) at San Francisco
The 49ers show promise. But not that much promise.
Chargers 30, 49ers 17
Oakland (+16) at Denver
Denver has won 12 consecutive home games. The Raiders are 0-4. Yeah, both trends continue.
Broncos 23, Raiders 10
Chicago (-10) at Arizona
It would take an amazing letdown on both sides of the ball for the Bears to lose their first game of the season.
Bears 27, Cardinals 13
