Can Matt Hughes Fight in Pride? - Fight Forum - MMA - UFC - Boxing - K1

hey guys

I just want to say that although Matt Hughes has dominated the UFC do you really think he would be able to do the same in pride... under the pride rules though

you see i really don't like Matt Hughes good fighter i just feel he is way over rated don't find him that fun to watch and i think he is a one trick pony don't get me wrong he is really good i just don't think he would be able to apply the same fighting stratagy in the pride ring and ultimatley be knocked out and i would be the first to chear

We all know what happend to Rich Franklin i think the same thing would happen to Matt Hughes.... hopefully GSP will be able to stop Matt Hughes

He'd have to bump up to 183, so he would have to fight bigger fighters than he does now. I have extreme doubts about his dominating there. His stand up seems to be more and more questionable every fight. A good stand up fighter with good takedown defense would give him alot of problems.

I think Hughes would do okay with being able to utilize knees on the ground. He could be pretty brutal in north/south without having to worry about lame-o no knees on the ground rules.

But like Harms said he'd be at the 183 pound weight limit. He could probably pull off moving down to 160 but I don't think he'd be as efficient but at WW he would be fighting much stiffer competition.

Matt Hughes is a large WW in the UFC. That 183 WW class in PRIDE Fighting is pretty much Hughes' natural weight class. He would not have to drop down as he does in the UFC. He would just train to fight. His stand-up has constantly been improving. He is among the most well-rounded fighters in the world. I think that Hughes would do just as well in PRIDE Fighting as he does in Ultimate Fighting.

Next to no rules- ufc old school!!!!!

Cro cop, would hurt him real bad, never mind Fedor Emelianenko, little matt hughes is only good at beaten up guys his own weight, but hey thats what all you 'modern' fighters are about, weight divisions.

hey man don't start on me, get off my girlfriends ass, come on then lets have a fight, oh sorry, your 2 stone heavier then me, its not fair we cant't fight youve got a alleged advantage, is that gunna happen in the real world, nope, so why should we expect it in a supposed 'fight' event, like the ufc.

I think that you forgot that this is MMA and that MMA is a sport, not the real world of street fighting where people have guns, knives, and blunt objects to pound out a win or stab out a win or shoot out a win. None of the best MMA fighters can stop bullets, knives, and baseball bats from killing them out on the streets where there are no rules and no limits to numbers of people that jump on you and crush the life out of you. As they say, "Pimping ain't easy."

And, don't act as though PRIDE Fighting has no weight classes. They do have open-weight tournaments. But, the mainstay of PRIDE Fighting is still their weight classes.

Matt Hughes would do just fine in PRIDE Fighting.

That is like saying Gomi sucks cause Crocop would knock him out. So do you think the Royce from the first few UFC's could beat Crocop or Fedor? Gimme a break. Should they allow eye gouges, fish hooks, and groin shots too? That is "real world" fighting.

in PRIDE he wouldnt be able to pin someone against the cage and will really have to improve his stand up game. Plus he is vulnerable to the good ol foot stomp. So for now I would say he will have a hard time to cope in Pride.

i think he could fight in pride...and lose a lot. I have been watchin a lot of pride the past few days. they are ruthless. those stomps end things quick
