Thats because he got knocked out the fight lasted like 1 min 30 seconds thats a bad analogy. How many times did Silva punch the whole fight Silva has fought better grapplers than Arona and stopped the take downs each time. This fight he just went down he didn't do anything Arona didn't have a scratch on him are you telling me Arona is a better stand up fighter than Silva. Silva wasn't even trying I've supported my statements and they make perfect sense everyone else is saying he didn't throw the fight nothing more at least support your statements. And Silva knew he was going to advance because Overeem had the choke nothing more once you take that away from him Shogun dominated Silva knew the same thing its his student And I told you that before only thing that worried me about overeem was his chokes and if he got someone in one of them it could be over. After I saw shogun get out the first one I was releived because I thought it would be dumb as hell to ignore overeem choke abilitys and not work on them in training.

Look at Silva corner the were quite the whole match said nothing normally there yelling stuff to do and all into the fight this time it was just real quite something was up with silva that day I think he wanted to give shogun a chance to shine thats all. I can't find an intevie with Silva either after the fight I wanna here what he had to say he probabley taking time to make up a story

I want to see them go at it again for the title, because Arona does deserve a shot. But man even I wouldn't say Arona is going to KO Silva.

Put it this way Brandon:

- Why would Silva throw a fight to a guy that he actually has beef with?

- How did he know Shogun was going to advance?

- I just downloaded the whole event and Chute Box corners was screaming the whole match. Brazilian Top Team's corner was quiet the whole time till Arona started the ground and pound.

- Also, what does that say about your fighter? That he's a crook and is shady.

He was bound to get beat. He is no god of fighting that can't be beat. It was bound to happen and you guys need to get on grips with it. He lost, SO WHAT!? He'll comeback stronger than ever.

can I nominate this for a "the worst thread I've read since I've came here" award? Wow what BS. Ever think Silva didnt go charging in because he has respect for Arona's counterattack? After the first time they went down to the mat, you could tell Silva wanted no part of going back down there. So he tried to keep it a standup war, but couldn't land the shots from the outside because of Arona's defence.

Brandon, our supportive arguement, that he didnīt throw the fight, is simply that you donīt know if he threw it or not. Just because the falls in place for you, dosenīt mean itīs true. Until Silva admits he threw the fight, I am not going to speculate about it. And yes, saying he threw the fight, is actually making him a crook. How can I respect a fighter that throws fights...no no. Silva lost fair and square, until you bring some proof. Proof would be him admitting it.

Another thing you said Brandon about the "master stepping aside for the student" is also bs. If he was truly going to do this he would not do it during competition. If he did not want to fight Shogun he would not have been in the tournament. They also would not have any problem pummelling eachother because they are respectable fighters. Someone said Mauricio probably wouldn't have been able to handle the idea of fighting the man who has basically molded him into what he is today. That makes sense. Silva throwing a fight is complete bs. Wanderlei said himself that he was 100% going to KO Arona. Also like someone else said they have beef with eachother. Chute vs. BTT is a huge deal no matter who is fighting. And after all the trash talking they were doing at the weigh in there is no way that Silva would ruin his image just so Mauricio could take it.

I wasn't going to join this thread because its stupid, but I'm getting tired of hearing "Silva threw the fight...Silva wanted Shogun to win the GP...bla bla bla.

Are you F*cking Kidding? Silva has never, and WILL NEVER throw a fight. We're not talking about some side show, this is Pride fighting, nothing means more to these guys.

Arona is a good fighter, I don't really like a lot of the things he does, but he is good. Is he better than Wandy, I don't think so. Arona is not a finisher granted, but he is smart in the sence that he sticks to his strong point BJJ. Everyone loves the guys who let it all hang out and trade rights, but not every fighter can be that fighter. Not much I can say about Arona that makes him outstanding or exciting even, but he got in their with Wandy after talking trash for years, and STOOD RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM!!!

Wandy is better on his feet than Arona right? Why didn't Silva let his hands go? Not like Arona was running away, he stood there ready to counter, ready to leg kick, ready to clinch, ready to fight. Where the hell was Wandy? He only charged Arona once or twice throwing a 3-4 punch flurry, and Arona defended. Everything Silva did, Arona handled it.

The whole why didn't Arona try to pass Silva's guard talk is pretty lame too. His plan was to wear him down on the ground, and go for a submission in the second. First off Silva has a really good tight guard, he keeps it really high too. Silva is a black black in BJJ, Arona is better, but that doesn't mean its easy to submit a BJJ black belt. Silva knows Wandy would be very hard to submit, knowing that maybe his thoughts were "Hey Wandy will be too hard to submit in a 15 miute fight, why waste the energy sinking in a sub when Wandy is fresh, he is not trying to sweep or stand, and I'm in a superior position. Sometimes when you go for submissions and the opponent brushs off the attempts it makes you look like your not doing as good as you really are.

Arona has been saying he would beat Wandy for a while now, you think Silva would let Ricardo win? Wandy hates Arona, and next time I'm sure Wandy is going to go crazy on Aronas ass, and I hope he does. But Arona beat Silva fair and square, give him some respect.

That whole post summed up everything that I wanted to get acrossed. Thank you. I get angry too because Arona is now not getting respect for that fight. The general aspect is that:

- Either Wandy threw it.

Or

- It was a decision victory and it didn't count. So, does Fedor's win over Crocop not count?

Arona was the better man that night and beat Wandy. End of story.

Well it doesn't look like I'm going to convince anyone here he threw the fight and your not going to convince me he didn't but Arona will get a rematch and I'll bet all my points Silva gets a KO in the 1st Round

Here are the facts: Arona Sucks. Silva let him win so Shogun can win. Silva throw 20 Punches the whole fight. Arona guard is like at his abs this guy cannot fight. Why could Shogun beat him and Silva couldn't if Silva is better than Shogun and they fight the same add it up.

I think it's funny that you think Silva is better than Shogun. Silva said in an interview that both fighters in practice had a win over each other and that he wanted to see who is better at Final Conflict.

Also, saying Arona sucks and that Silva threw the fight are opinions. Not facts...

Cause Shogun pressured the fight. Wanderlei gave Arona too much respect and he ended up on the ground not being able to do anything. I'm sure he learned from his mistake and it won't happen twice. Anyways, Arona does suck. Not so much at MMA (went to decision with fedor...), he just sucks in general. I doubt you dislike him any more than I but claiming that fighters don't have any talent just because you don't like them is pretty childish, don't you think?

Saying Arona sucks is fine. Yeah he can be a jerk and he is not the best sportsman in the world but saying he sucks as a fighter is ridiculous.

Come on... its one thing to say that Wandy looked like he had jet lag, or just wasn't all there, but to say he threw the fight is just plain dumb. If Arona sucks so bad, why did he control Silva in EVERYWAY? Maybe Silva is so use to intimidating his opponents that he didn't know what to do? I don't think thats the case.

Silva is a BJJ black belt, why did he only once try to push off from the guard to look for a triangle? Did he sweep Arona? What did he display on the ground that says he is a BJJ black belt? Sure he didn't get submitted, but Silva never tried anything. And anyone who knows BJJ, knows its much easier to sink submissions on opponents who are trying to get away. Like when a striker is on the ground they get so concerned with getting back up, that they often leave huge opening to secure a good submission.

Silva threw a dozen low kicks in the first, which still wouldn't add up to 3 of Arona's kicks. Silva threw a 2 punch combo rushing in that glanced Arona, and that was pretty much it for Silva in the first. And its not like Ricardo was running away, ARONA STOOD TOE TO TOE THE WHOLE TIME!!! Silva threw I think one or it might have been two 3-4 punch flurries in the second, but Arona simply countered with a big knee. Silva did not engage and that was his problem, Silva LOST, Arona beat him in every way. Look at both fighters faces after the match.

And did anyone see the elbow Silva took in the first? They showed it on the highlights of the 1st, slow motion it. Arona was sitting up waiting to throw some hammer fist, when he throw a heavy one, Silva punch him first, and Arona ended up nailing him right in the side of the head (looked like temple area to me). It would look intentional if Silva didn't land a shot while Ricardo was throwing it. It did not seem to effect Silva though.

And now the Arona knocked himself out in the Final. Thats BULL****. I will defend his fight with Silva, but Shogun beat him straight up. Arona did not get his head smashed, at least nothing that would effect him. He was fine after that. It was those hammer fists right after the attempted foot stomps. Man those were right on the button, no doubt thats what did all the damage. I hate when Arona makes excuses, Shogun was fighting with PASSION TO AVENGE HIS BROTHER.

I think it's funny people hate on Arona saying that he's a jerk and talks too much when it was Wandy who initiated the war of words. He started with dedicating the fight to Sakuraba. Is this the same Sakuraba that Silva KO'd 3 times?

Also, at the official weigh in for the bout Silva said, "I'm going to smash your face in." The Arona replied, "We'll see tommorow." Silva is cocky in my opinion and started it. He was the first to say he didn't like Arona because he was a member of the Brazilian Top Team. After that, Arona got into the exchange of words and he gets condemed. I don't get it?
