Oh, and Gomi is a beast!
Jens was definitely poked. I like this article because it explains the mistakes Jens made and not excuses. Also it talks about his eye. I have had a very small corneal abrasion before and it was pretty brutal. Mine wasn't even on the pupil it was down and to the side. This is not to take away from the fact that Mach beat the crap out of my favorite fighter because he deserves the respect. Just for anyone who is interested.

Ok, I have to step in here and say I'm confused at how this thing works. I am trying more and more to get into PRIDE because the better overall fighters seem to be there. But this Bushido business confuses me.

I see all the results of all these fights, but does it somehow work into a tournament or what. And if so, where does it go from here? Basically, who is fighting who and where and when are they fighting?

Thanks.

Bushido started out as just an event where they had slightly different rules regarding the flow of the fight. For example the refs are quicker to hand out warning cards where the fighter loses 10% of his purse, etc. It wasn't that much of a difference from the standard Pride cards but it was supposed to make it more fast pace I presume. Then they basically designated Bushido to showcase their lighter fighters and it has basically become a separate series. Bushido 9 was the first time the did a tournament and they had one for the LW's and one for the new WW division they just started (think of UFC's MW division for the weight limits) they held the quarter and semi finals for both tournaments on the same night with the fighters advancing to the finals to fight on NYE at Shockwave. The LW finalists are Takanori Gomi and Hayato Sakurai. The WW finalists are Dan Henderson and Murilo Bustamante. You might be familiar with the last two if you have followed UFC for a while, as they are both former UFC fighters, with Busta holding the MW belt at one time. Murilo has a chance to be one of the first fighters to hold both a UFC and Pride Championship title. I would definitely recommend checking some of the Bushido events out if you like seeing the lighter fighters get the respect they deserve. Also check out the Grand Prix events to see the heavier fighters fight in a similar tournament. Hope this helps a little.

Ok, that explains a lot of it. I appreciate it. It makes so much more sense now. I am a fan of the tournament style, so I would probably enjoy the heck out of it.

I have another question or two while I'm in the asking mood.

First, how many Bushidos do they have each year?

Second, why was their a tournament-style format at Final Conflict with Silva, Arona, etc.?

Thanks again though. I appreciate the help.
