Read up on it. Get an updated guidebook. There are websites with info for people travelling to countries for the first time. An ex girlfriend of mine went to Japan once, and she said it was the biggest culture shock she'd ever experienced. Everything is totally different, and very confusing. Maybe you could even hook up with a Pride fan in Japan who posts to one of the online forums, so you'd have a contact when you got there.

Default I have to go

I've been looking to book a surprise trip for my boyfriend to see Pride.
I've been to Japan before and I can get around...I've also found cheap tickets to Tokyo, the only thing is - I have to go in the Fall of 2006 - and I can't find a schedule for Pride fights??!!

is there any way I can find out in advance when the flights are happening so that I can actually arraneg my trip?

Thanks

Awesome! If you go in the Fall it's most likely either going to be Final Conflict of the Absolute GP or the Bushido GP. Both excellent shows and to see it live I can't even imagine. Don't know if there are exact dates set but we can keep you updated if anything comes up.

the odd thing about japan is that if they know you are a tourist and you try to talk just a little japanese they will smile and help you the best they can, but a friend of mine who works for a mulinational told me that when he went and asked strangers in fluent japanese they would usually just say 'gaijin knows good japanese' and walk away.

I'd love to know if anything comes up. Please, please keep me posted...
My window is from Oct 01/06 to the end of November...
I think he'd go crazy over either , although I'd preffer the Absolute since I'm mroe familiar...
Anyhow, even if you know of anyone that arranges short packages that would include tickets, that would help
Thanks

Hmmm. You might be able to get a travel agent to do that, if you know when and where the event is happening. Most agencies will book you a whole package if you want to go to the Olympics or the World Cup or whatever. So if you went in and said, "Look. This is the event we want to attend. Set me up with the airline tickets, the accomodations, and tickets to Pride, and tell me what it will cost."

Maybe?
