new interview with Shogun
Thanks to MMARingReport.
Mauricio "Shogun" Rua spoke with MMA Ring Report and talked about all things MMA, Rua got injured in the main event of Pride 31 Dreamers last February, when Mark Coleman applied a take down and he fell on his own elbow. After that incident, Pride Middleweight GP champion Mauricio Shogun has been treating his injured arm and impressing a new group of fans: his doctors. "They are impressed with the recuperation. I also have been already running and swimming. Last week I started to train kicks and knees, but punches... it will take a while," stated the Brazilian fighter, who also revealed his wishes to return to the ring in the next semester and the possibiliby of a rematch with Mark Coleman and Renato Babalú. That is really good news. I'm glad to hear he is recuperating so well. I hope he can make a full recovery soon and get back to 100% or at least close to it.

WOW!!! that is awesome that he is already swimming and running and doing some light training. i had read earlier in Grappling magazine that he was not going to be able to train for up to 6 months. i am very much looking forward to Shogun returning. i just watched him destroy Rampage Jackson on the Pride Total Elmination 2005 DVD. he is really as good as everyone says.

Coleman is always dangerous. would he have beaten Shogun? no way to tell but Coleman was sure ready for that fight, both physically and mentally.

Mark gets owned by the best because he is slow to evolve. he depended on his pure strength advantage for alot of years and did well. too bad it was'nt until recently that he really started training to defend submissions and improve his striking. Mark could've been one of the greatest fighters ever had he cleaned the concrete out from between his ears and sought out some really diverse trainers.

I agree with that statement, especially the concrete between the ears part. think if he would evolved like Randy did.
to bad we never got to see those two go at it.

Mark is one of the best ever, you guys are crazy. Oh no he lost to Mirko, Fedor, and Nog. Damn, he's terrible.
Coleman is a good fighter and highly underrated. The guy just beat Shogun, that should say something. He only got to train for a couple weeks against Mirko and had a neck injury and still stepped in the ring. A lot of people don't give Coleman his due credit.

Mark Coleman is a legendary fighter. I will always give him the respect he has earned.
What i wont do is give him credit for defeating Shogun. i wish he had beat the crap out of him at this point. giving him a win for a freak injury and acting like he is now the top contender is dumb. i want to see him fight and actually finish the fight intentionally.

I donīt think anybody can be serious about thinking Coleman is a top contender.

lets put it this way if it was fedor v coleman fedor in my eyes would win 10 out of 10 times as would big nog and cro cop if you ask me. there comes a point where you have to stop living off your past glorys or they become a joke(shamrock) and there comes a time when you have an option to go out with style(couture) or not(sadly shamrock again) so we will see what route coleman goes down when the time comes

i don't think Coleman is making a joke out of himself. he is still very capable. his style is'nt based on speed, but power and power is something you can maintain even at 40. is he a contender? probably not, the Big 3 mentioned earlier are younger, faster and more skilled. Coleman is too far behind those guys to catch up, although i think he does have a few good fights in him still. a Coleman Vs. Shogun 2 would be a battle.

I canīt see how people are acting like Coleman beat Shogun based on skills. He beat him, yes and a win is a win, but was it Colemanīs skills? ( not saying he dosenīt have any). Itīs not like Coleman submitted Shogun or ground and pounded him, or Koīd him, or anything of that nature. Shogun was beat due to an injury, which happened sadly very early in the match. Just because Coleman got a takedown? come on. Coleman vs Shogun II, will clear this misconception about Coleman being better than Shogun or being a contender for any of the titles.
Coleman is a preety good fighter, but if people start talking about him having a future in MMA, then they are derailed from the truth. His age is a very big factor, this is not a Shaolin Temple.
