Seems strange considering he lost what was considered a boring fight last week. Hopefully this signing will motivate him to come to fight fully prepared. Id really like to see Vitor work his way up the ranks again!

I hate to say it, but after his last showings he dosent deserve to be in Pride unless he ups his game and gets back into the flow of things.. I am with mulla and h ope that it does motivate him

I am very surprised that Pride signed him. I always hope we'll see the old Vitor return but I'm not holding my breath anymore.

I hope Vitor will get his head on straight. But I've been hoping this for a long time. I will always be a fan and I don't want to sound like I am bashing him but I'm not excited to see him fight. He just doesn't bring it anymore. Thanks for the memories Vitor. Here's to hoping you will bring more but I too am not holding my breath.

Vitor is'nt that old so he does have a shot at regaining his old glory. he really needs to find new training partners. maybe hook up with Dan Henderson and learn how to actually last a round without gassing. he has the skills but he needs to start fresh.

I have to agree with u on this one. I was surprised myself with the signing considering he dropped his last 4 outta 5 fights

I really feel Vitor would have been better served in the UFC, but maybe Dana White didn't want him. Who knows? His name recognition would have been good for something.
Like everyone else has said, it's not really that exciting. It would have been about a year ago, but not right now. He just doesn't stack up very well to Pride's middleweights, but maybe we will see the return of The Phenom..
He still has age on his side for the time being.

Vitor reminds me of Ortiz, a lot of potential, but does nothing with it. Maybe both guys got too much fame too early (although Tito's road to stardom took a little more time and effort)?
Both Tito and Vitor seem very one dimensional in their approach, but like some other top fighters, even that could be effective if they had the stamina to stay in the fight longer.

Sherdog lists his bday as 4-1-1977. Can that be right, he's only 29?

sadly yes. It's sad to see such a great fighter peak in his career in his late 20's

Vitor is actually very diverse in his abilities. most people are familiar with Vitor while he was in the UFC. the massive cut he put on Marvin Eastman's head. His stopping Wanderlei Silva. Vitor destroying Tank Abbott, Scott Ferroza and Tre Telligman in his UFC debut. what alot of people missed is his time in Pride where is was mostly a ground fighter. getting wins over fighters like Heath Herring and Gilbert Eyvl. alot of that is said to be from his hook-up with BTT after he left Carlson Gracie's camp. Vitor can be great again if he can improve his cardio. he's lost alot of fights because he got tired.

I believe he is actually a light heavyweight not middleweight which would make it even tougher

Middleweight in Pride is the same as Light Heavyweight in the UFC.

Heh, I knew someone was going to reply to my post saying that Vitor is a LHW instead. I guess I should have put "UFC LHW" in parenthesis or something.
Nonetheless, I knew what I was talking about for once.
