How would you rank the fighters from the fights they've had in 2007?

You should at least use 2006 as a starting point.

I wouldn't.

Seems like a pointless system. The rankings are crazy at the beginning of the year, and I'm sure they'll be a bit weird at the end too.
Then, whoopee, we have a new year, which means back to insane rankings?

No, the rankings will keep going after this year. I just started them this year because... I just started them this year. They'll work out with time. I could go back and do 2006 and have a much more accurate picture, but it would take a lot of time (this will too, but it's easier because I'm doing it as they happen), and then why not 2005, 2004, etc.? In time here you'll look at the rankings (especially the UFC ones sooner, since it has a lot of events) and think they look much better. Trust me, give it time. A big part of the reason I'm posting all of them starting right now is because I think it'll be interesting to see how it works itself out (or, what if it doesn't? What if I'm wrong!) Plus, I think it's interesting to see how fights effect rankings actually based on some sort of system other than "well, I think he could beat this guy, he did good against this guy..."

WHY would you rank the fighters based on 1 show in 2007... none of this makes ANY sense.... first explain that, then you can put up your ridiculous rankings

It's the start of the rankings. I could post after 10 shows and say, "Hey guys, here's my rankings based on this method I've been using that goes like THIS. I started it at the beginning of 2007 and here's what they look like now." However, I thought it would be interesting for some to look at and see how it all works out with time. Won't you be curious to see how things change after a year? You'll be able to look back and see the first rankings, based on one event, and see how drastically they've changed after 10 or 12 events? I think it'll take time with Pride (next show is in April... a show every 2 months will make the stats come along slow), but will come along pretty quick with the UFC. Hell, I think it'll be interesting when some of the fighters who have already fought actually start fighting each other (hasn't happened in either thread yet) and there's an actual change in the rankings. Right now it's more like I'm just filling in the roster.
