Isnt Mitchell one of the Directors for the Boston Red Sox. Could this be seen as a conflict of interest?

I dont trust this report. This a BS attempt to put a wrench in The New York Yankees dominance. this is an anti-Yankees witch-hunt and I hope Mr. Steinbrenner uses his vast financial resources to debunk this corrupt senator and kick him in the nutz publicly.

One thing you do not do in this country is try to destroy the cultural american heritage of dominance that is the New York Yankees. WOrld wide they're as recognized as the Statue of LIberty.

This senator just F'd up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From a law enforcement pov, looking at the report and the evidence he sites, most of the evidence is circumstantial. There are no scientific reports showing any of these guy pissing hot. There is a lot of heresy and everyone that pointed somebody out had there own agenda throughout this process.

These trainers were facing there own legal battle. I am sure that these players did juice, but these by far are not the only guys in baseball that did some sort of juicing. I am just wondering why is it just these players. You cant tell me that no minor league guys were doing the same.

I just feel this report is something that was done to take heat off of MLB and Bud. I feel that it is not a comprehensive report and was done to put it simple; half assed with little to no hard evidence other than copies of checks and he said she said. They sited parts of Jose Canseco's book. C'mon.

I dont have everything that he had infront of him and none of us do. I am just making a general observation from what I saw in the report.

Full list from wikipedia for those too lazy to read the report:

Implicated in the BALCO Scandal
Main article: BALCO Scandal
Names in this list are followed by descriptions or direct quotes of the Mitchell Report to illustrate the context in which their names were mentioned.
Barry Bonds - Peter Magowan said in an interview that during a phone conversation he once asked Barry Bonds if he took steroids. Bonds replied that he used a substance for sleeping problems and arthritis, and later found out the substance was steroids, claiming to not know it at the time. Magowan says Bonds was adamant that he was not trying to hide his use of the substance from the rest of his team at the time.[15]
Jason Giambi - In 2002, Jason Giambi's personal trainer, Greg Anderson, arranged a blood test for Giambi in which he tested positive for Deca-Durabolin. Anderson warned Giambi to stop using that substance because it remains detectable long after use. He suggested an alternative regimen of performance-enhancing drugs that, if followed, would never be detected by the MLB's tests, which were to begin in 2003.[16]
Jeremy Giambi - Jeremy Giambi told the Kansas City Star that he used steroids while in the MLB, and apologized. [17]
Armando Ríos - "(Victor) Conte told the agents that he had sold “the cream” and “the clear,” and advised on their use, to dozens of elite athletes, including several players in Major League Baseball whom he named in the interview: Barry Bonds; Jason Giambi; Jeremy Giambi; Armando Rios; and Gary Sheffield."[18]
Benito Santiago - In 2003 a Giants clubhouse attendant says he found syringes in Santiago's locker and showed them to Victor Conte, who said he "would take care of it". The attendant says assistant athletic trainer Dave Groeschner was also present.[19]
Gary Sheffield - "In September 2003, when federal agents executed a search warrant on Greg Anderson’s condominium, they cited a February 2003 FedEx receipt from Gary Sheffield to BALCO as evidence of probable cause to conduct the search."[20]
Randy Velarde - Velarde admitted through his lawyer that he obtained performance enhancing substances from Greg Anderson in 2003. [21]

Where was Sammy Sosa. Pudge Rodriguez was named in Cansecos book. I did not say that I did not believe that these guys did the stuff. I just think that this report is not complete. 20 million dollars for an incomplete report.

Yeah, that report isn't complete. I guess it only include players who have been named by sources feeling the heat.

Notice the absence of currently active players save for a few.

What the hell is the government doing involved in this anyway?

The thing is that noone had to talk to Mitchell. It is hard to get people to talk who aren't feeling the heat.

I also don't see where the government was involved in this.

As part of a deal with the FBI and the federal government, the two clubhouse trainers were required to cooperate with George Mitchell.

Good. I'm glad they made them. Obviously, there would have been nothing without them.

if I were a ball player and accused of this stuff, I'd tell the feds to sucka fatty.

Not condoning it. BUt this is also just Big Brother run amok at the hands of some senator that has some hidden agenda somewhere.

The other day he recommended that MLB outsource drug testing? To me that smells of some drug testing company that probably is a big contributing lobby to this Senator Mitchell guy.

Dude is a former senator, so he isn't running for reelection.

I find it a bit surprising that a law enforcement officer like yourself is complaining about criminals ratting out their partners since that is a major source of information police get to go after other people.

Yes, it is an incomplete report based on the fact that if you haven't gotten caught, most people won't come clean. Bonds, the Yankees, Grimsley, and others were unlucky since there operations got busted. The Yankees strength trainer who got dropped the dime on the players was facing 25 years in a Fed prison. Almost everyone other than the most hardened criminal will spill the beans to reduce a sentence like that. Big brother run amok, this crap happens daily from the group of kids busted for stealing bikes all the way up to Enron. You just have sour grapes cause it was the precious Yankees.

In criminal investigations you turn people to further the investigation. you take information that they give and with it get search warrants and look for hard scientific and concrete information. Some cases are solved with circumstance and heresy. It happens but the burden of proof has to be very high. Here the burden of proof required is not high. Thus the reason most of the players are not facing jail time. No concrete proof. This is a coverup for MLB and BUD who were enablers.

I cant speak for other law enforcement officers who are on here, but as one myself, I like a complete report that nails the subjects of the investigation to the wall. I dont do half assed work. This is more like nailing the subjects of this investigation to a wall of jello.

i see your point.... but when you say nailing the subjects to a wall of jello which ones are you talking about? some seem like its shakey while some seem very very concrete... again its not a trial, people can decide what they want....
