Thoughts on The NFL Draft?
I watched some of the NFL draft yesterday and found it utterly amusing, that for the first time in quite some time, practially all of the top 10 picks were all Defensive players.
Lol.
It even carried on into the second round, teams realizing that defense beats out offense if the defense is brutal. Lots of Defensive Ends, tackles, blitzing style safeties were all taken in the first round.
Only a few runningbacks, QB's etc were taken.
Thoughts? WHo'd your team get? Do you think they'll make an impact?
Again, it seems like My New York Football Giants started this and are setting the trend for next season and teams focussing on smashmouth defense old school kill the QB style play for the 2008 season.
I can't wait!

I like the Giants picks so far, Phillips is a great pick at #31 , I wish we would have gotten Dan Connor in the 2nd Round, but we got a CB Terrell Thomas, Mario Manningham who somehow slid to the 3rd round, and 2 LB's in the 4th round. Pretty good draft for the G-men so far!

i like the mario pick by the gmen... but they pick WAY to many guys at DB every year... they need replacements at DL, OL, and even more WR.. not overly impressed (and i do like to follow them) i agree conner was the pick for them

Does anyone even know which QB got picked? I think he got picked at #3 or 4
And I know some Runningback got picked at like 12, but that was basically it for Offense guys in the 1st round.

Matt Ryan I believe, I think he went to the Falcons.
I'm not too happy with who the Steelers picked in the draft. Their O-line was awful last year with the exception of Alan Faneca who is now gone. And they only picked one offensive lineman in the draft in like the 4th or 5th round. So if they don't get something figured out with their line before the season starts then Big Ben is gonna be getting sacked an awful lot... just like last year.

Yeah, that's rough. That O-Line makes all the difference. I mean the NY Giants don't have the best O-Line, but they're tough strong guys that give Eli Just enough time to do what he did. They show up big for big games. They're underrated as an O-Line, but also arent something to write home about. They just get the job done.
With no O-Line? With the quicks most D-guys have these days? Forget it.

I'm happy with the Texans draft. They needed a OT, RB, and CB and they addressed all of them with their first three picks for a change. Slanton should be a good running back even though he is a bit small.

My 3 favorite teams did average at best.
Titans- didn't get a WR. Vince is a great ground threat and has a very strong arm give him some one to throw too
Houston- as mentioned above, did the best in my opinion with the draft. They will slowly start to build a strong tradition.
Dallas- Did a good thing by getting Felix. He is a fast back that has great acceleration. This will fit great with Marion the Barbarion Barber's style of pounding the ball in the hole. They need that one two punch. I do have a problem with getting another TE. They have Jason Witten, arguably the best TE in the game right now and didn't pick up two TE last draft (one being from Notre Dame)
