Obviously i'm not talking the best player EVER, or the best ever seasons performance; the current best player in the world. That is the general (and pretty much accurate) opinion.
Do you not agree Gooner?
He's one of the best players in the world.
I'm not sure he's the best.
How do you compare him to Fabregas for example?
Or Messi and Kaka.
Looking at (PL) statistics,
Cronaldo has 19 goals and 2 assists,
Cesc has 7 goals and 11 assists and plays much much deeper. He's actually doing some defending and pulling the strings in midfield.

I agree, it's hard to compare. Is Toure better than Rooney? Is Van Der Sar better than Clichy? etc. Sure, I could make my picks there (yes and no) but it's much easier to compare players who play in the same position. Comparing CM to CM is much easier than CM to winger.

I don't compare him to Messi, because although he is obviously an amazing talent for the futeure, he's pretty inconsistent. I have little doubt though that one day Messi will be one of the greatest ever. As for Fabregas, I just dont think he's as good as Ronaldo. Pretty simple decision for me to make really, he's an awesome player but isn't upto Ronaldo's standards by any means.
Kaka got the player of the year, which he probably deserved, but at the minute he is not playing as well as Cristiano (from what I have seen and read). Okay, if you were the one who now had to award one player with 'Current best player in the world', who would you give it to? And if you say the strange looking little spaniard, I think you are fairly biased.

Actually, I don't find it all that hard to compare players of different positions. Is Toure better than Rooney? At the moment yes. Is Van Der Sar better than Clichy? Yep.

I don't know, current best player... I think if you're going to judge players, you can't do it with some short period of time. Adebayor's scored (important goals) in 8 consecutive matches now and worked his ass off, is he the best current player?
Maybe I am biased picking Cesc, and maybe you're biased picking Ronaldo.
I don't know how Cesc is not up to Cronaldo's standards. Because he's not as quick or doesn't dribble and do stepovers as well? Fabregas is a leader on the pitch and he breaks down the opposition with his vision. He defends, passes often and accurately and scores goals too.
It also seems to me that Cronaldo is a bit inconsistent himself. When he faces a world class full-back he often goes missing. Sure, he's good at raping the less skilled defenses with his pace and technique, but coming from the middle trying to open up the defense with passes is as hard against poor teams as it is against big teams, if not harder due to them defending with 10 men or something.
Btw I also think Clichy is the best left back in the Premiership.
That France call-up was long overdue. He needs improvement only in the last third, shooting and composure-wise. Other than that he's brilliant.
Defending, attacking, crossing, tackling.
But that's just my biased ass talking.

Sigh, The AC Milan vs Arsenal game is quickly approaching and it isn't looking good for Milan. They have a laundry list of injuries, which consists of many of their top players.
Alexandre Pato, their new prodigy star is probably going to be out for the Arsenal game with a sprained ankle. He is defiantly out for Serie A's next 3 games and is borderline going to return for the big match. I really hope he is better in time, he has added some much needed offense to Milan's game.
Kaka - Hes out with a injury, its rumored to only be minor, so he should hopefully be back in time. He will probably miss at least one Serie A game though.
Gattuso - Hes out for 50days with a thigh strain A big player in the midfield who will surely be missed.
Dida - Ok he started out as being injured, but it seems he has been dropped as starting goalie since kalac has been doing pretty good. Kalac had an amazing last game, but I'm still not sold on him.
Inzaghi - Is out with an injury, he is hoped to return soon.
Ronaldo - Lazy POS is always injured. I think he has played like 4 games this entire season. Regardless Milan is realy hurting for some strikers now.
And to top it all off, Gilardino is suspended from Milan's next Serie A game because of penalties. So... Milan might not have any strikers for their next game if Ronaldo and Inzaghi don't heal up in time.

Never!
Too bad Clichy (and Sagna) will be out of the match at OT.
Gael would have kept Cronaldo quiet again, not so sure his replacement will.
That's gonna be a long while too for Ronaldo, another bad knee injury.
Oh well, at least he's not playing against us now that Gattuso will after all.

That was embarrassing.
-we have the best full-backs in the league. Unfortunately, their back-ups - Hoyte and Traore - are rubbish.
-but it's not like ManU were playing their best XI either. Wenger said the pitch was horrible, and that may have contributed a little, but not that much. We never got off, completely shut down.
-Eboue is a cunt, even Arsenal-fans think that.
-how was that dribbling from Nani a PWN? He was running towards his own goal wasn't he? And lost the ball eventually. Meh.

Could you remind me how many goals you have let in in the premiership....18...and Man U have let in 14 yet you have the best full backs in the league, computer says no. Then in the KO tournaments you have let in more than us also.

Cant you see the poor Arsenal player (forgot who it was) fall over then get angry and go chase him, thats called PWNED.

That's a ridiculous argument.
-full backs (at least ours) do A LOT more than just defend.
-central defenders and the goalkeeper are also responsible for keeping out goals. Hell, the whole team does its share of defending.
-when you attack more, you're bound to concede as well. Besides a 4 goal difference is really small.
If you seriously think Evra and Brown (or whoever they decide to play instead of Neville) are better than Clichy and Sagna, you clearly haven't been watching much footy this season.
