Post Who’s Now? It’s got to be 'The Natural'

Courtesy of UFC.COM :

Thomas Gerbasi, UFC - What makes an Ultimate Sports Star? That's what ESPN is attempting to find out this summer when it puts together 32 professional athletes from fan nominations, groups them in brackets, NCAA tournament style, and then eliminates them, matchup by matchup, until a winner is crowned.

the article says that there is no mma fighter in the feild but Chuck was in it as a 5 seed against Dale Earnhart Jr. He lost like 61% to 39%

The fact that Danica Patrick (who has YET to win a race) and Michelle Wie (a young buck trying to compete with the men, but cant even hang with the aces in the LPGA tour and has quit out of tourneys REAL quick actin' all spoiled) are involved makes the damn entire "Who's Now?" thing auto-fail.

Chuck woulda done much better had he not lost to a certain Rampaging dude. I doubt he would have beaten Dale Earnhardt Jr regardless though

yea but there alot more NASCAR fans than mma fans in the US where most of the votes are coming from. Most people vote for who they like more, not who is actually more now. Like if its Chuck vs. Peyton Manning, im going with Chuck, because i dont even like Peyton Manning (im a pats fan), even though he is much more "now" than Chuck. Winning a superbowl and having all those commercials as well as being the 2nd best QB in the league (behind Brady) is more now than being the most popular UFC fighter.

Yeah but your missing the point. Chuck may have lost but MMA won bigtime. Everytime MMA is discussed on ESPN it gets that much closer to becoming mainstream.

Plus a possible deal that would air some UFC fights on ESPN; when a sport is on ESPN it has truly arrived.....
