I miss him like crazy. I dont care what everyone says, he would have tapped Andrei no problem at all. Give him a few fights to get back into the mindset of a champion and I have no doubts in my mind at all.

i hope this fight happens. although i want frank to be at 100%. i wanna see if it will go to the ground and if so exactly how good is AA's ground game. anyways it would end a lot of speculation and the UFC would have at least 2 really good heavy weights.

good point i cant think of any really good world class heavyweights. personally i thought ricco rodrigues was good . buentello is good , justin eilers is good , but the ufc is definately lacking good heavyweights.

Mir may eventually clean up, but it he won't clean up right away. He will more than likely win right away, but don't look for him to be mopping the floor with anyone real soon. Unless he fights competition like Mike Tyson does everytime he makes a comeback.

i just dont see frank "cleaning up" personally i dont think he has a chance against arlovski. he's cardio is way to weak especially with all the time off. and arlovski isnt exactly bad on the ground either

I miss Mir in the heavyweight division too, he's a great fighter he's been very dominating in his performances in the Octagon. I can't wait to see him back but he needs to be 100% to be able to fight Arlovski and beat him. If the fights stays standing up then I think it'll end with a KO by Arlovski if it goes to the ground it'll be Mir's fight and he may very well make Arlovski tap out. they have both come on in leaps and bounds since they first appeared in the UFC so it'll be an intresting fight I think.

This post is from 2005, it's too bad that Mir is done, but I really think he is. If he comes back and cleans up "bigstyle" starting with his next fight I would be shocked. And Arlovski by KO.

I am a huge Mir fan as well. I hope he gets his stuff together and works on his cardio! His cardio has always been a problem.

His head and heart have gone, game over I think for Mir. The heavies are thin at the moment but I don't think he has enough to get up there personally. I used to love seeing him and Wes Sims slug it out.

I just watche the Mir / Hardonk fight and Mir tooled him. He looked trim and in shape and he did a great job escaping an omaplata attempt and transitioned it into a nasty kimura. If Mir trains and stays in shape, he will be back fighting for a title before long.

Didn't the guy who beat Hardonk before come in late to the fight, look really out of shape, and LnP him without any problems at all?

That's a fair assessment IMO.

That was Hardonk v Justin McCully at a UFN earlier this year. Mir fought Hardonk in August at UFC74.

McCully was the one who won the decision over Hardonk in his previous fight. Its one thing to win a L&P decision, but its a lot more impressive to finish the fight early in the 1st round against a guy who had never been finished.

Mir needs to do what he does best, take the fight to the ground and submit people. i am tired of all these grapplers saying that they have improved striking and then looking to prove it. Its fine to use your striking to better your chances of getting the takedown, however its completely stupid to try to turn the fight into a boxing match. Hughes did it with GSP, Mir did it with Vera, Monson did it with Sylvia and then with Pedro Rizzo. Mir is a ground wizard who is plagued by poor cardio. anyhow, i say Mir vs. Sylvia.

Monson took Sylvia down 1237325627123 times, he just couldn't doing anything down there.
