Default He is worth the Hype???

As someone who has only read about him but not seen him fight yet,i have to ask if Wanderlei Silva is worth the fuss or Hype that UFC have been giving him since he signed?

Well he was Pride MW champion for about 6 years, he won the 2003 MW GP and pretty much went undefeated from 2000 until 2004 when he lost a close decision to Mark Hunt (who outweighed him by about 100lbs). He also moved up to HW last year and TKO'd Fujita who has probably the best chin in all of MMA. Also, 21 of his 31 wins came by (T)KO.

Id say he's worth the hype.

Definitely worth the hype. He's like the Tazmanian Devil in there, comes out swinging and literally anything can happen in a Wanderlei fight. I'm hoping we'll see the old Wandy come December, he one of my favorites.

IMO, even though his last 2 fights were losses ( He lost to Hendo & Cropcop.. which are top guys in the MMA game ).. I think he is 1 of the BEST lb for lb in the world .. definitely worthy of the hype man, just wait til you see this guy in action .. he BRUTALLY knocked out Rampage twice .. so I think you will become a fan of this guy right away, as long as its the "old Wandy"

If he's still a middleweight, he'll give that division some much-needed talent...

Random fact:
Silva's NEVER been submitted.

MW in PRIDE was 205lbs so in the UFC he'll be a LHW.

Thanks Pittbull for the clips, I haven't seen these fights and the second fight/clip when Rampage got knocked out and almost went out the ring was a good highlight reel.....

But now Jackson is a diferent fighter now than before so it will be a different fight if they do meet again.

People said the same thing about Liddell in his rematch with Jackson. Jackson ended it like it was nothing. As much as Quint has seemed to have improved, 2 (not 1 but 2) ass whoopings like that stay with you. I can't see a third matchup between Silva/Jackson ending any other way than the first two.

I am really looking forward to seeing Wanderlei in action as well. I've only seen two of his fights before. I just hope that he doesnt gas early like some other recent Pride fighters have.

Silva has been on another level for some time. I think that he will shake up this division. I would put him at the top of his level.

Wow, those knockouts were great, he absolutely destroyed Rampage. Were those just the finishes of the actual matches or were they complete blowouts?

I think his (Rampage) new camp will have a game plan for Wandy when they do meet. So it will be different this time around.

But first we will see how Wandy do against Chuck and I may change my opinion.....

Ya Wandy is definately worth the hype. He is an amazing fighter.

I would say Hunt has a better chin BTW. Cro Cop definately kick harder than anything than Wandy can do, and he cleanly kicked hunt twice without getting KOed.

He is worth the hype!! He's good in muay thai, BJJ and your'e going to see why they call him, "Axe Murderer." A rabid pitbull in the ring but one classy nice guy that loves his fans! One of my favorite fighters

IMO, it's only Hype when you don't deliver.

Wanderlei has delivered. Even in defeat vs Chuck Liddell? The man kept coming and put Chuck Liddell into defensive mode. Even forcing "The Iceman" into shooting for a takedown for the first time in his recorded UFC career.

Wanderlei will bring it. He made quick work of Jardine, and now the word is out that if you're going to fight Wanderlei? You'd better be ready for battle.

As much as Rampage has improved, I guarantee Rampage has Wanderlei in his rear view mirror getting ready.

Wanderlei again, took the best shots from arguably the hardest hitting LHW fighter in Chuck LIddell,

AND STILL KEPT COMING!

That's not hype. That's a scary dude which is what you'd expect from such a great former Pride champion/mma champion.

Wanderlei (barring injury), is going to be around a while wreaking havoc in the UFC LHW division!
