Now, I have never been a sanchez fan and was rooting against him, but he really impressed me even though he lost. He was going for submission after submission and though he didnt lock one up, I think he is still growing as a fighter. And what a class move by giving props to fitch following a close fight, i was waiting for him to say something stupid, but he suprised me.

Fitch clearly won the fight.
Good to see Diego lose.

Is it possible that Diego could drop to 155? I think he would be better suited for that weight class.

I don't know I think he would be a lot smaller. Like he would be too small for his style to work.

Diego Sanchez would not cut to LW. I just cannot see that. He was a small MW, but he's actually a big WW. Going down another 15 pounds to 155 when he has to cut down just to make 170? I don't see that happening.

Diego did look really small compared to Fitch tonight. I lost all my points on this fight but I'm still glad at the outcome. Now people really know how good Fitch is. I say Fitch vs. Karo for a title shot after GSP's.

It is absolutely true that Diego looked too small against Fitch. He had already looked small against Koscheck but, against Fitch, size was really a huge factor.

Diego actually said at the post fight press conference that he's a small WW and he's thinking about dropping to 155, he'd be crazy good @ 155.

I think his overwhelming and smothering style wouldn't work for him at 155 because he wouldn't have the strength that he does now.

Yeah, but lately ever time a fighter loses, it seems like people think that fighter should drop to another weight class. I just cannot see Sanchez dropping to LW. Sanchez walks around at about 180. He drops to 170. If he dropped to 155 to fight, then I think that he would lose a lot more. He has always fought as a WW (except for when he fought on TUF). Fitch is a big guy, but he can be beaten by Sanchez. I think that Sanchez would win a rematch. We may never know, because I don't see many rematches on Sanchez's records.

When a fighter starts talking about dropping weight after a loss, it's a telltale sign that he knows he was outclassed.
Diego would be a huge 155. Of course he'll be a bit weaker @ 155, compared to 170 standards but he'd be a beast @ 155 and I think he's defintely an automatic contender.

That division's not too stacked but there would be some tough guys for him to beat but its not like he is going to take on GSP, Hughes, or Serra.

You listed WWs and a LW... No idea waht you mean by that but anyways I think Sanchez should stick with WW. He wasn't dominated just a close decision loss.

Both fighters had awesome displays of sub attempts and sub escapes. Fitch got out of a couple tight chokes and arm locks, and Diego was in bad positions at times. Fights like these are the main reason I watch mma.

Is it just me or did it seem unusual that the crowd was just as interested the ground game on this fight as the standup? I never heard a boo when they hit the mat, maybe Americans are finally coming around to appreciating a good chess match on the ground.

I agree, great fight! I think Fitch won, but Diego looked great from his guard... He kept going for submission after submission!

Haha yeah Joe Rogan even said "Finally American fans have learned to respect the ground game."

I think the decision was right, Fitch in my opinion overpowered Diego but i don't believe he was never worried about Diego's sub attempts.
I was very impressed with Sanchez after the fight though, he took his loss like a man .

Im just glad they didnt rob Fitch and give it to Diego IMO hes gotten a few given to him in the past. Not to take any thing away from him he still a very exciting fighter to watch probaly one of less boring fighters in mma.
