When they say if you had a quick fight that they wished it was longer and if you have a long fight they say you should have beaten this guy quicker. Some people you just can’t please. If it is so easy, they can put on a glove and do it themselves. I’ll watch them fight.

OBT , you are right. People should give Hughes more credit here. I've never kept it a secret that i don't like the guy or think he's horribly one dimensional. But i have to give him his props for stepping up and saving this PPV by not just waiting for Sera to get better.
Hughes had a good long run as champ , and no one can deny he has an impressive overall record.
I really hope GSP has gotten rid of his "mental" demons as he has claimed. If so , there will be no stopping him in the near future.

I agree. if GSP fights like that every time out, I don't see him losing to anybody in the near future. He was just spot on and on target with almost everything that he did last night.

He's not as young as he was for sure. His fight schedule earlier in his career may have finally cought up with him. I expected Hughes to pull out a Couture and say (after he lost to GSP) that he would retire. I still kind of expect to hear that soon.

im sure he has, but GSP is just superior in skill honestly
he could have the core strength of oak tree and the same result would have occured

I just rewatched the fight , anyone else noticed Bruce Buffer list GSP's height at 5 feet tall ?!?! He must have still had Sera's credentials on his card.

Man this was one sided. Alot of people like to question GSP mentally but it almost seems like when the pressure is on that he does his best. Also the crowd chanted USA which always seems to spell doom for his opponent.

I thought I heard "GSP" chanting from the crowd during this fight.

I made my sig to drive the point across that his time his passed. Maybe you're just a little sensitive since you're a self-proclaimed defender of his.
And how is my sig any different from all the other avatar/sig of guys getting knocked out or subbed?
I think your bias is affecting your judgement, BB.

Whatever guys...
If I were Hughes, I would "retire" like Couture, and then come back a year or two later totally refreshed with no BS from TUF or pressure from fans or promoters. I would get back to the farm and my kid(s) and just enjoy the fruits of my close to fifty fights in MMA. Then come back 1000% and shock the world.
It would be awesome, if GSP was the champion for two years, then Hughes came back from retirement and defeated him for that title. It would be classic MMA in the making.

I just think that the whole country chanting thing in MMA fights is uncalled for, I can see it in team sports but not MMA. I am full blown redneck/American and GSP is my favorite fighter.
Sub is correct though, the chants did change to GSP later in the fight.....

I know they changed to GSP but I always find it a little funny when people do the chant like GSP vs Sherk and then GSP wipes the floor with them. Also in regards to Pitbulls signature I had to see some people with Serra pounding GSP so why is this any worse.

If I was GSP in that scenerio, where people chant USA ,it would motivate me.
I feel bad for Serra in a way. Hughes and GSP seem to write him off.
BTW, your sigs rock Pitbull. Keep them coming.

Well some guys tap with their hand, and others tap verbally. Had he tapped with his hand, I would've still used it in my sig.
I like you to BB, but theres nothing like offering to teach GSP armbar defense on TUF and then get caughting in an armbar yourself.
Sweet irony
I personally think it's far less "offensive" watching somebody verbally submit and walk away than watching someone take several unanswered, undefended punches and crumble in a heap (coming from a guy who has exactly that in his avatar). I like the sig
