Un-Official Mir Vs Lesnar Thread
Mir Vs Lesnar tonight. Im not such a big fan of Lensar, or Mir, but this fight interests me. I say Lesnar bull rushes Mir, Mir weathers the storm. Finishes Lensar by KO? No idea. Only time will tell.
Talk amongst yourselves...

Good fight, Mir won which is good to continue his comeback and Lesnar showed that he isn't a joke, that guy is a beast showed heart and that's he's not scared to drop bombs.. both these guys will continue/start their run for the title soon imo, Lesnar just has lots to learn.

aw, I was pulling for Brock, but it did go pretty much as people thought. Wish he could have finished Mir, but hopefully this loss will make him work harder to improve his ground game (or at least defense).
PS What was up with the quick point deduction? It didn't look intentional, it more looked like Mir moved his head while Brock was raining down strikes. Weird call IMHO.

What was up with the point being deducted. It was hardly a blantant strike to the back of the head.
Anyway result fairly predictable. Would of been nice to see Lesnar stand up a little longer before taking him to the ground.

Frank Mir is definitely back, didn't the Mir/Tank fight go like this? I can't really remember but damn for how fast it was over I was really impressed with both of them, Lesnar came out strong so you can bet he'll be back.

I dont think Tank did anything to Mir in that fight. Basically threw some wild punches that missed then got subbed. Lesnar was smashing Mir.

A great victory for Mir. My hat goes off to him. But at the same time I came away very impressed with Lesnar. Big things await him if he continues to train and learn the sport.

You need more than some big hammer fists in MMA. It was great to see Mir pull it out. Verry nice.

DAMNIT! I was really for Lesnar to pull this off! And yes, that point deduction was uncalled for; Lesnar wasn't intentionally wailing on the back of his head or anything - Mir rolled into that one.
The worst thing is that you could tell that Brock had some good power in his hands before the fight went to the floor - I wished that fight would've stayed standing for at least a minute, so we could roughly gauge where each guy was at in terms of stand-up. And even though Mir was off-balance when the fight hit the floor, it looked like Lesnar basically walked into the takedown on him... I can't wait to see what an explosive takedown from Lesnar looks like...

Mir's experience and technique overcame Lesnar's brute strength. Lesnar still looked impressive though. He was pretty much manhandling Mir in the beginning of the fight. Given more time to develop, I think Lesnar is going to be a real force in the HW division.

IMO, this was the one of the win-win scenarios that the UFC was going for. Mir stays relevant and get a sub, while Brock looked impressive while being caught in a rookie mistake.
But, I think they were banking on Brock destroying Mir. It still would have been a win-win for them, because Mir would just be living up to his post-accident level and would basically become a decent gatekeeper.

Mir was getting his Ash handed to him...so, it wasn't like Brock went in there and dropped his pants. Mir won from experience and maybe a crappy stop by Mazzagati earlier in the round. Brock Lesnar's going to be a Force to be reckoned with.

LOL. Mir did take a lot of damage from Lesnar before that submission. I really thought Mir was going to lose the fight. SO, I agree that Brock Lesnar looked impressive. And he made a mistake. I hope that he brings that intensity in the next match. He just needs some serious BJJ to compliment his wrestling and striking.

Man Brock looked impressive. The thing is thou his weakness is obviously the submission game, but where does he find someone BIG ENOUGH to teach him BJJ? He is so thick alot of techniques will be hindered by his size IMO

Well put. I'd liked to have seen more of each guy's stand-up too; especially Lesnar's. Once Brock gets some more BJJ experience/defense/don't do that knowledge, and learns how to pace himself...look out. I don't think he could've kept that pace for 3 rounds though. I think he went in there all jacked up looking to seek and destroy and made a lot of rookie mistakes. Once he settles in, learns more BJJ, and paces himself better...he'll be a machine.

I agree with what you guys are saying. Lesnar just needs some fine tuning. He showed lots of potential. I'm glad to see Mir winning again.
