Hey, I don't take it personally. We are just talking here. But I believe people tend to discredit Kenny's opponents once he beats them. Both Thomas and Lauzon were considered top 10s by many. Kenny beats them both in dominant fashion and now they are no longer top 10s?
Just to refresh everybody's memories, when Florian fought Sherk he survived 5 rounds, while fighting hard the whole time, and the fight was very close to being stopped because of the cut he gave Sean. Now, that was much more impressive than what the steroided top 10 Franca did against Sherk, and no one doubts Franca is top 10. In addition, that was 4 fights ago for Kenny and he has looked better and better in every fight since.

-Hammil vs Boetch was awful, I could hardly watch that fight
-Maynard vs Edgar .... Edgar really belongs in a lower weight class. Still, all maynard was able to do was take him down. I hardly think either of them did enough for a win, OR a loss. LnP for the "win"
-Lauzon vs Kenny .... PLEASE let me see Kenny vs Huerta, that would make me happy
-Anthony Johnson looked amazing, how much of that is because Speers stand up is amazing? Who knows but wow he looked great.
-Wish we woulda saw more of the HA vs JI fight.
-SOO glad Karo lost. Again, reminds me of a Matt Hughes.... you were great a couple years ago, but you need to up your game to stick with the new boys on the block. AND WTF IS WITH THAT BELLY? COMMON NOW.
-Oh and NATE DIAZ IS A BAMF. Tough as nails, those hammer fists to his face from side control ... wow. I loved once he locked in that triangle...new avatar here i comeee
OH and if Kenny EVER fights BJ Penn, I call sig/av/points bet with Earv. thanks.

Did anyone else notice how much larger Johnson looked compared to Speers? Tommy also looked smaller than Mac Danzig when they fought. It is like he has shrunken since TUF 6, and Mac got bigger. Anthony Johnson looked HUGE! Maybe Tommy needs to drop down a weight class as well.
I must disagree strongly with anyone who feels there are 9-10 better LW than Kenny Florian in the UFC right now. As to the elbows, some were legal, some were to the UPPER part of the back of the head. Herb addressed that perfectly with a warning.

Keep in mind too that Sherk basically fought that fight with one arm and still had his way ragdolling Florian around.

That event really lived up to the great fight card. I was disappointed with Kenflo beating Joe, and went 50-50 with my picks, but all in all I loved it.
-Good job from Maynard. I could see him (why not Edgar too) give big problems to even Sherk.
-Damn, the Diaz bros are gritty. Just can't finish them. Impressive sub from Nate over a skilled grappler.
-Exactly what I expected from Johnson-Speer. Speer might be another wrestler farmboy, but he's just not dynamic enough. Awesome work from Johnson.
-Thiago-Karo! Hahahaha, take that Mr. I'd-like-an-easier-fight-before-my-title-shot.
Back to the end of the line, Karo. That was sweet.

Good event yesterday. Nate's submission was awesome. Kenny has some vicious elbows, hope he ends up fighting Huerta. Good to see Hammil get a win. I think Karo did get K.O.ed, I don't think he could have recovered. It looked like Alexander did get K.O.ed, even though it looked is was for one second.

I have watched 6 of the fights online and was thinking that the UFC must be so happy with the event - all the fights on the main card had finishes (good ones at that) and there were some really exciting fights.
Alexander-Irvin was short and sweet . Great KO by Irvin, and although the stoppage looked a bit premature the first time around, on the replay you could see that Houston was OUT! Great win by the Sandman.
Didn't like Hamill-Boetsch a lot, as it wasn't a really exciting fight... but Hamill's cardio was obviously a lot better and that's what got him the win.
Nate Diaz was so, so impressive against Kurt Pellegrino - he took a lot of punishment in the first round and a half but then managed to pull off the superb submission. But hopefully Pellegrino gets another chance in the UFC - he looked very competent in the match before being tapped out.
Parisyan and Alves - after Parisyan (in my eyes) won the first round, I was expecting him to eke out a decision... then Alves goes in with that awesome knee and finishes the fight with punches. Wow. Not sure if the stoppage was premature or not but, either way, a very impressive win from Thiago.
Edgar and Maynard was a bit of a mismatch... Maynard was so much bigger and a lot stronger and, unsurprisingly, took the UD. However, Edgar looked feisty and spirited and didn't give up so props to him.
And the main event... JLau definitely won the first round but Florian, obviously, dominated the 2nd... his strikes from the top didn't do a whole lot of damage but it was the accumulation of the blows which won the fight for KenFlo. Very good performance from KenFlo but JLau looked good in the first round so didn't disgrace himself.
On the whole, some very good fights there - I really enjoyed them .

Great night of fights.
I don't have much more to add that hasn't already been said:
Anthony Johnson is a mean man. Whoo, his only loss came because he took a fight with one week's notice. Definitely could rise up the rankings very quickly.
I'm definitely not a "KenFlo" fan, but he thoroughly dominated JLau.
Right now he deserves a title shot or number one contender fight with Huerta.
Hopefully, Joe Silva agrees.

florian v lauzon
joe impressed me in this fight, i didnt give him much of a chance, but now i think he definitely has the potential to go on and beat some top competition in a stacked division. kenny showed a few weaknesses but i think with his improving stand up, sick bjj, and just real smart game plans, i think he has a decent shot at the title
alexander v irvin
oh man, we expected theyd just go at each other and someone would drop early and we were not disappointed. houston loaded up with a big right hand and irvin just blasted him with that superman punch. and he was definitely out. he took another 2 or 3 punches without putting his hands up at all. i know he recovered quickly, like he did against thiago, but he was gone
parisyan v alves
i havent been much of a fan of karo, though i was disappointed for him in this fight. i thought his stand up really improved. he was definitely winning the stand up against alves, which i think worked against him because he decided to continue it for a bit too long and just got caught with that knee. karo did crumple under himself but when thiago came down on him karo did have his hands covering his face. steve mazzagatti talked about letting fights go on longer for top fighters than he would for lower class fighters, so i think he should have let the fight go on, because that fight could have defined a title shot
diaz v pellegrino
pellegrino was impressive taking diaz's back a couple of times and really punishing him in side control for a while, but damn nate diaz's submission skills are crazy. he can pull of anything from really awkward angles. and the celebration was great too. i think some people thought he was getting overhyped, hopefully not anymore

Diaz had the best submission ever! He continues to prove he deserves a spot in the top 10!
Reguardless of what anyone says, Florian destroyed Lauzon! Lauzon is a tough guy, but not even close to Forain's level!

Hi guys, sorry if this has been mentioned earlier but in the UK we have only just got to watch these fights tonight.
A quick surmise of my opinion(s) on the fights..
- Alexander - Irvin
Having fought, I'd be pissed off if the ref finished it that early. However, HA looked out of it to me.
- Hamill - Boetsch
I'm not sure who said Boetsch is the next big thing but...... next....
- Diaz - Pellegrino
Diaz took his medicine and as always, he didn't give up. Nice finish
- Parisyan - Alves
What was Karo up to? I know he seems to have an aversion to training hard but come on... My girfriend described as a muffin.
- Edgar - Maynard
Big man, small man. You can only beat whoever has been put in front of you and GM defo did.
- Florian - Lauzon
Fair play to Kenny. Good fight, well won. Joe stuck at it well though, that boy can take some punches.
What can happen from here though?
If (when) BJP wins (which I think he will), KF will fight him and KF's best attribute is BJJ. Does anyone want to bet AGAINST BJP in a BJJ fight?
Alternatively, KF will fight The Steroid Shark Sean Sherk (who he has already lost to).
What else? Where to go?

I agree, I will not argue that Kenny deserves another title shot but BJ IMO is on the same level as GSP and that is all I have to say about that.....

I just saw the Gamburyan fight. The guy is obviously a douche bag, throwing a kick after faking touching gloves. I am surprised the commentators left that one fly by unnoticed.

100% agreed. That was the only point during the night when I boo'ed and I was boo'ing as loud as I could! Cheap shot, plain and simple. I'm surprised the place didn't erupt in boo's. I was the only one in my area (2cd row) who seemed to notice.
