Ok that makes sense then haha, Lutter being his own conditioning coach i'm pretty sure was a rumor, I'm not 100% sure but don't think it was ever proven? I also wanted to see a Silva/Lutter 2 since I doubt there will be a franklin/Silva 3 it made more sense if Lutter won, although i'm glad he didn't and after that performance he'll be lucky to even come back.

Good submissions by Lutter in R1 and good sub-defense by Franklin all around, but... it was almost like Lutter gave up as soon as he started getting fatigued. Very disappointing to watch... especially 'cause I gave him a very good chance of pulling out an upset over Franklin.

Lutter definitly seems finished. If Rich didn't whip outta that armbar, it'd be interesting to see what everyones reaction would be. Nonetheless, Franklin proved to be a dominant number 2, and Lutter proved to be probably the biggest wasted potential in the history of the UFC. Anyone think there's a chance of him fighting at LHW? His BJJ could be interesting in that division. Anyways, bring on Rich-Hendo.

How Franklin was able to get away from that armbar. Still don't know why is not hurt.

One thing I didn't notice until the replay (because I was almost jumping out of my seat when it almost happened) was that even though Lutter had a real good grip on the arm and one leg across Franklin's body with the other over top of his (Franklin's) arm, there was still noticeable room for Rich to spin out of it like he did. However, that's not to take away from the escape at all, because I admit that it was an awesome defense.

Lutter is a disgrace- can't make weight for a title fight, gasses out after the 1st round when he is in the "co-main event". I doubt that we'll ever see him on a live broadcast again. Good riddance.

I told my friend about that. Maybe Franklin was able to get out because Lutter cross is feet.

I can't imagine Lutter will be back after this debacle. He had a gameplan, and he started to execute it, just ran out of gas. Real fast.

I thought this was gonna be an absolutely boring fight watching tham both come out. Lutter couldn't keep his eyes off his man sweater-stuffers, and Franklin looked like he'd rather anywere than the octagon.
Still Franklin's BJJ impressed me, Lutter's was unimpressive. I thought it was hilarious to watch Lutter get raped in that second round and than protest the desicion when the ref stopped it.
Maybe Lutter should just fight at 205 so he can have all the cake he wants.

I think he was referring to the 9-4, 33 year old Matt "the terror" Serra that has had less and unimpressive fights then the more accomplished 15-2 Georges St. Pierre at the age of 26...

Silva
Franklin
Everyone else

That was a very high level Jiu Jitsu escape. Maybe Franklin's Jits is better than we thought??

Good performance from Franklin, but geez it seems like Lutter has a ton of talent but can't get his stuff together.

Lutter is done with MMA. It's 90% mental yes? His mind is not on fighting or being a legit fighter in 2008. His training might have worked years ago but the game passed him by. Way past.
Also, would this be the easiest victory of Franklins career? I really don't recall one strike hitting him. Was there even 1 strike from Lutter attempted or landed? I don't think so. That is itself is rather pathetic. I like Lutter and was cheering him on, but he is a fossil in the sport now. Bye bye.

You would think at this level you would have some sort of conditoning. Krazy horse said he plays basketball for conditoning. Maybe him an Lutter can get together. Not having any cardio could be an excuse for some amateur fighter or maybe even a guy here or there on a TUF season, but not at this point. Very disappointed and I also agree that I do not think he will be back.

Franklins escape didn't really surprise me all that much, when he fought Okami and escaped from that nasty kimora I knew his BJJ was really underrated. He also handled Jason Mcdonalds ground game with relative ease.
I also want to see Franklin vs Hendo. But I see Rich taking that by decision. Then they can have Franklin and Hendo vs Silva in a tag team so we can actually see him go into the 3rd round. I don't think they'll feed Rich Bisbing just yet. They'll give Bisbing at least one maby two more fights at MW.

Yeah, it does seem like a terrible waste. He has a lot of potential. But, if he has so much trouble cutting weight, then maybe he needs to step up and fight at LHW. Or, maybe he is stuck between weight classes; too small for LHW, but too big for MW. It seems that cutting down to 185 is too much. But, Lutter would look small next to most LHW fighters. Look at Bisping. He said that he did not even cut weight or use the suana or any of that. Some guys just have the right body for certain weight classes.
