Sub of the night!
***Herman/Maia spoilers***
argh how could they not show that fight (Herman/Maia)!?! Goulet/Hironaka was great, but that sub from Maia looked sick.

At least Herman didn't (in his own words) tap like a llittle b****. (The McDonald fight) You have to respect someone tough enough to get a triangle and GnP, yet still not tap.

Did they show it? I left as the Goulet fight was coming on, I already knew the outcome.

yeah, but losing consciousness too many times over the course of a career will take its toll. I don't like the stigma that some put on tapping. I say, if you've attempted the escape multiple times (and failed), there's no shame in tapping.

yeah, I'm just hyper-sensitive to spoilers. I hate when things are spoiled for me (e.g. Yahoo Sports spoiled Silva-Henderson for me when I was trying to order the 2nd showing of UFC 82 ) and so I never want to do the same.

I think that mainly applies to KOs, but I agree, no shame in tapping. Anyone who's done Jiu Jitsu has most likely done it (I have many times). Ed obviously feels a need to fuel his ego by no tapping..... which is fine w/ me.

I like Ed Herman. I like that he fought hard and did not tap. It says that he will be a great fighter with heart. I doubt that we will see him running away from anybody any time soon. But, he should have tapped out. Still, I respect him for his manliness and pure, raw intestinal fortitude, LOL.

Ed Herman is like a GNP version of Chris Leben. He'll never sniff the title, but he'll always come to fight and he'll win more than he loses.
I really want to see this fight though, Demian is straight up sick on the ground. He's one of those guys who you know is going to end the fight once he gets himself to the position he wants.

I also like the fact that Herman didn't tap.
Not sure how manly he looks convulsing at the end unconscious but hey, it sure made Demian and the finish look more badass.
I'm calling it now, if DM gets a title shot against Silva, he's taking the belt. He's got the style to beat him, forget the wrestlers and strikers.
But he's probably not gonna get the shot if they match him up with, say, Dan Henderson.

Herman was giving him all he could handle with GnP from the top. Maia was beginning to slow. Silva would have him unconscious for sure.
