So glad Nelson pulled that off!! Good fight! And props to Brendan too, he definitely has a lot of potential.

I already stated what I thought about Hamil/Jones in chat, but to sum it up I think it should have been a NC.

And man Kimbo/Alexander was a let down. Alexander looked scared to death the whole fight. The only cool thing that happened were those few badass throws Kimbo had in the 2nd.

Overall though I thought it was a pretty decent night of fights.

Oh, and please let Edgar fight a contender again....he goes from beating Sherk to fighting Veach?!? That confused me.......happy he got the win though.

He was originally set to fight Kurt Pellegrino who is climbing the ladder himself, but Veach stepped up after Kurt pulled out. Veach really impressed me, his stand up isn't very good but he landed some pretty damn big slams, and showed a lot of heart by lasting as long as he did after that huuuge punch from Edgar.

I'm all for an Edgar vs. Tyson Griffin rematch right now!

Yeah good call, I do remember that now. Props to Edgar for taking that fight with virtually nothing to gain.

How bout Edgar/Diaz? (I know this wouldn't work though.....doesn't Diaz have a fight coming up?)

Edgar should fight the winner of Guida and Florian.

That's a good idea too Cuts!

And I forgot to put this in my first post:

    Regarding the Jones/Hamill result:
Nevada State Athletic Director Keith Kizer just informed MMAjunkie.com that the disqualification result was the first-ever use of instant replay in the commission's history. After halting the bout, Mazzagatti asked for the replay to determine whether the illegal blows contributed to the ending of the fight. When replays showed that the elbows scored directly to the eye, the disqualification result was issued. Because the illegal blows landed as part of the sequence that ended the fight, the ruling was made.

Oh hell yeah. Imagine him fighting either of those guys?

I think him vs Guida would be a barn burner .

Overall not disappointed @ all with the fights.

Kimbo/Alexander started like ****, then Kimbo starting going all Tito Ortiz on Houston slamming him everywhere, it was beautiful.

Kimbo has some nasty power in his punches. He simply needs more trianing in putting his shots into combinations. He's always throwing 1 2's setting up for a bomb.

If he could get disciplined with his strikes? He'd be nasty.

Big Country? Oustanding performance. Don't hate him or like him? IMO he's a modern day verson of Tank Abbott, only with better all around skills.

But I'm liking what I see from him right now.

Tito/Chuck as coaches? Whatever. Seeing them fight again? Why not. But not like I'm super pumped about it either

Not a fan of Hamill at all and I thought he was gonna be destroyed in this fight, but going by the rule book I think the decision was pretty clear.

Not sure what your arguments for NC was CP, but I kinda have the feeling that the fact that Jones was dominating Hamill before the illegal blows might be clouding peoples opinions. To me it seemed obvious that Jones intentionally used illegal strikes and that those ended the fight.

I don't technically know what all the rules are regarding a situation like this, but it looked as if Hamill wasn't getting up with or without those elbows seeing as he already jacked up his shoulder. While the few illegal elbows did a number to his nose, I think his shoulder was the main reason he couldn't continue. (not saying the elbows didn't have something to do with it)

I don't really know....maybe a DQ was the right call......I'm not sure of the rules in a situation like that.

Yeah, if the illegal strikes is what ends the fight and they were intentional it's a DQ. I guess what ended the fight is up for debate though. For me it was a good decision, but it in the end it won't really matter much except for the looks of their records. Jones is for real and even being DQd I think the fight moved him closer to a titleshot.

I was shocked that they stopped the match, I mean he threw like 30 elbows, if they were all illegal why didn't they stop the fight earlier?
Imo Hamill has been lackluster in his last 4 fights and has shown no ability to improve at all.

Interesting, I just read that Mazzagatti used instant replay to make the call for the DQ.

    Sherdog

Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Keith Kizer stated after the bout that instant replay was utilized by Mazzagatti to make the official ruling. It marked the first time instant replay was administered in the state for a mixed martial arts bout.

Big Country with the huge KO. That was awesome.

Props to Schaub for a good showing...for a little while. He really thought he was going to win. I guess Trevor Whitman's queer little motivational tools didn't do the trick.

Jon Jones thoroughly dominated Hamill. Yeah like a questionable downward elbow really made a difference.

Frankie looked great again. I like watching him fight - always exciting and he has real good technique all around.

Well Pit, they say the UFC is the cream of the crop. They tried to pass this off as an MMA fight. Well at least Hulk Hogan was in attendance.

Why does UFC.com have McSweeney at a record of 12-5? Sherdog has him at 4-4. That has got to be the most phantom record I have noticed. I feel that because he is British and will be draw there, the UFC will favour him and build him up to be something he isnt. At least I hope they dont do it, but its business.

Hamill wasn't winning that fight in any sense of the fashion. Jones was hammering him standing and really on the ground. Hamill got a gift last night. No way Jones should've been DQ'ed. Mazzagatti did the right thing, initially, calling him on the foul and deducting a point, but since when do fighters get DQ'ed without at least a warning first?

The right call was made, I think an immediate rematch has to happen. Hamill's shoulder is ****ed up though so who knows how long he is out, Jones will probably want to fight before he's back.

Either way we need to see a rematch, personally I thought Hamill was doing well until he got tripped to the ground. No telling when the shoulder got ****ed up though.
I like Hammill and this is complete BS. The fight should have been stopped earlier for no other reason than he was not defending himself (I dont care what Joe thought either). 2ndly, no way they should fight again, it was complete/utter domination. Jones is a stud and very smooth in the octagon; this guy is a contender IMO.....
