MIKE SWICK VS. PAULO THIAGO
Round 1 - Referee Herb Dean in charge. The two open tentatively as they search for openings. Thiago offers the first attack with a left high kick that connects. Swick swings in with an overhand but misses. Thiago wobbles Swick with a low kick and scores with a punch as his foe stumbles away. Swick moves in but has his punches blocked. Two minutes in. Swick scores with a low kick. Swick circling and attacks with a right hand that misses. Thiago again wobbles Swick with a low kick. Swick lands a jab and Thiago bounces away to reset. Thiago parries a few jabs and stays just out of reach of several Swick punches. Swick opens up, but Thiago blocks the flurry. Thiago lands a straight punch. Thiago misses on a high kick, and the boos come again. Less than a minute. Swick elects to shoot in and earns a takedown. Thiago ties up the left arm and quickly flashes a guillotine choke attempt. He lets it go and stalls as time winds down. No real excitement, but Thiago had the better strikes and takes the round on the MMAjunkie.com card, 10-9.
Round 2 - Swick paws a jab and fires a right hand. Thiago stays out of range. Thiago looks prepped to throw as well. Left hook lands for Swick. Thiago kicks low. Thiago continues to parry well. Swick kicks low, though a second effort is nearly caught. Thiago with an overhand left as he holds the center of the cage. Swick lands a straight right, but he eats some return fire as he attacks. Swick falls to the floor after a solid shot wobbles him, and Thiago pounces. The arms work quickly around the neck, and though the arm is in, Thiago squeezes tight. Swick refuses to tap and instead waits until he goes out from the hold.

I had a feeling Thiago was gonna win this fight. Swick is somewhat at a crossroads now; not any sense fighting someone down the rankings at WW in the UFC now. He needs to fight someone around where the last 2 guys that beat him are.....
Well I guess this makes Fitch the king of AKA. Thiago seems like a top level fighter and I will look forward to his next fight.

Swick has always been overrated in my mind. His last fight vs Hardy was a weak performance and kind of surprising how big of a favorite the bookmakers had Swick. But then again bookmaking has a lot of other things to weigh in than actual win% chances.

AKA have got this whole superstar prima dona feel going on about there camp and I dislike the attitude displayed by Swick & Kosh thus I was happy to see them loose to Thiago. I guess Swick being a 100% sure he is the better fighter in his mind is just that
Swick Fitch Kosh have all looked like they are letting there high ranking status in the WW division get to their heads and it shows in there performance none have looked really dominant in all of their recent fights. Time to shut up and do some work in the star studded superstar hollywood gym!

I dont think Kos carries himself that way, but Swick sure as hell has ever since TUF show. I've never liked Swick's whining. From him whining on the show about his only loss to Leben, to the way he carries himself as if he expects to win all the time with that little arrogant snicker he has.
Now he's not as quick. Guys are timing him well and he's missing. He missed alot of shots last night and also got hit alot.
I don't think Swick is going to go much further in The UFC TBH and think eventually he'll end up in Strikeforce to fight Nick Diaz.

I agree, I never understood why so many people underrated him. He now has wins over 2 top10 WWs, other than GSP and Fitch, who can say that? He's undoubtedly top 5 imo.
Plus he actually finished Swick. Now I agree with 'Shred that Swick's a little overrated, but to his credit, he's only been finished once in his career and that was a looooong time ago.
Great fight for Paulo, can't wait to see who he fights next. Hopefully he'll get the winner of GSP/Hardy.
