So what about the AA match guys? Arlovski seemed to be really lacking a killer instinct.
He was permanently stuck in counter-attack mode, and did nothing in the way of offense. Unfortunitly the other fighter(forgot name), once he realized AA was better at stand-up, he also sunk into a defense/counter-attack mode.
So there they were for more than 2 rounds straight: both guys standing there and staring at one another, waiting to counter an attack that was NOT coming from either side. That match was frustrating to watch(Do something, anything!).
This was sad because had arlovski taken the initiative he could have totally overwhelmed and KOed him early in the second round.

I thought he broke his ankle at first, during the live broadcast. But he got up and walked out of the octagon, so he's obviously not too hurt, maybe a slight sprain.
I was sure that trying to strike with Cro Cop was a bad idea, but Gonzaga proved me wrong.
I think Mirko was too conscious of getting taken down, which is why he was hesitant to throw too many leg kicks. Gonzaga simply took advantage of an opening and won the fight.
BTW, I had no idea Gonzaga had such good high kicks! Impressive!

Wow after all the talk i've heard about crocop on here, third fight I've ever seen from him, and he gets KOed!
I wonder what this does for all those UFC Vs Pride arguments eh, hrm?

Ah, you should Google some of his Pride fights if that's only the third time you've seen him. It might explain why everyone seems to be so shocked that he lost like this. Watch that second fight he had with Wanderlei Silva, it was brutal.

Welcome, SixKiller. I think everybody is in shock right now. Usually you'd get a real warm welcome. As for Mirko, I can't think of a single thing to say. My brain starts to put a sentence together, then my eyes roll back in my head and tell it "STFU! You didn't just see this sh!t! It was CRAZY!"

Oh, man, what an awesome event. With a few exceptions, of course.
On Cheick Kongo's fight:
I was disappointed with his win, but I bet my tiny lot of points on him and he came through, so that was good. I disagree with Joe Rogan saying somebody should train Kongo...the man's only advantage is his size, I think. I'm not even that impressed with his striking. He is way too slow and there's zero bounce in this step. What power he delivers seems to come only from his massive size. I think any good HW striker like AA or Big Tim would humiliate Kongo. If he was tought wrestling and submission he would be better, but he seems to have no sense of balance when it comes to grappling. Why train somebody like that when there are natural wrestlers out there?
On the AA fight:
Boring fight, but AA needed the win, so good job. If this is the guy that trains with Cro Cop to develop Cro Cop's take down defense, I have to assume Randy would have taken Cro Cop down at will. Not that they'll ever fight.
On the LW fight:
Once again the HWs have a three round borefest and two LWs that nobody knows end up coming through with a very exciting fight. I love fighters that go on an all out attack like that, though I don't see why Etim went for the crazy knee. Grice swung wildly and left himself wide open, then caught a punch. I would have stuck with the punches instead of taking it to clinch town with a wrestler. It's about time we saw some viciousness with a guillotine. Submission of the night for sure.
On Cro Cop's defeat:
I have to admit, I jumped up and screamed, "Yes!" when that happened. Hearing everybody on FF talk about how Cro Cop was the best HW in the UFC and how he would destroy Liddell and how Pride fighters are better...I wasn't happy to see Cro Cop's leg bent up or that he took so long to get up, but I like the fact that Cro Cop lost a fight by dropping his hands and that he got beat by his own game. Maybe now people will realize that Liddell is on a different level. More likely they'll just think that I'm an *******.
On Bisping's fight:
I'm glad this is over. I thought from the start that this was a horrible move on the UFCs part. Elvis is a good fighter and a bad fighter at the same time. He's good at winning, but he isn't good at not losing...if that makes sense. How can he lose so many fights yet beat Horn with a submission? A dangerous fight for Bisping, whose career could have taken a huge hit. And it wouldn't of even helped Sinosic's career much, it would have just improved his record to 9-9. He came close to winning with that kimuru it looked like, but I didn't see the angle and they didn't replay it, so maybe not. Awesome fight, though.
All in all, I enjoyed the crap out of UFC 70.
