Ive already said what i thought would be exciting but i was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on these fights, i have always wanted to see them play out( some i know are "loppsided" but...). Ortiz vs. rich franklin (ortiz did start off mw), i know since his accident he has had some trouble but frank mir (glory days) vs nog, leben vs forrest griffen would be wild hooks all night, and finally i thought jeremy horn and babalu would be a dangerous grappling mix. Maybe not? what do any of you guys think about these fights?
Cuts Im with ya dude, Liddell and Rampage are never in a boring fight so when they mix your just putting metal in the microwave. I think Rampage's drive for the belt and Chuck's desire to get this last weight of his shoulders is gonna make this fight 10x more exciting than in a normal situation.
I guess i have to toss my 2 cents in because there's two pages worth of crocopvs kongo, looking straight down the middle, without playing favorites i give it to Mirko. Sorry Jdaniels, i know ur in dier need of some support but i just dont think Kongo can match up although he is very skilled at striking. His knees are great but Mirko has never been one to hang out in someones clinch, so they would be utilized. Hands and highkicks are dominated by the croation as well. The point is exciting fights though and that would def. be one.

If i couldn't see your post count it would be hard to label you as a new member. Your posts have been solid. Aside from the size differences all those matches would be good. Ortiz did start off MW but that was when MW was what LHW is now. However Franklin has fought a lot at LHW(not recently) so that would work. I'm not sure if i'd put that as one i think would be extremely exciting, but definitely highly anticipated. Imo Franklin is too well rounded to loss to Ortiz. Ortiz would have to go for GnP. Franklin has very good wrestling and good BJJ quickly improving BJJ. Franklin has more ways to win that fight.
Mir vs Nog is so hard to talk about because we don't know where Mir would be now if the accident hadn't happened. But Nog then or now would beat Mir then imo. Great fight though. And an exciting ground fight, which can be hard to come by.
Leben vs Griffin would be the ultimate slugfest, however there's a considerable size difference there. In a nontechnical slugfest, which this would likely be, you have to go with the guy with the big size and reach advantage. However Leben is known for his KO power while Forrest rarely gets KOs.
And Horn and Babalu have already fought. I don't remember the event, it was a small show years back, but Babalu won via unanimous decision. I haven't seen the fight, if anyone has incite would be appreciated. I certainly wouldn't mind a rematch. I see this one ending in decision 7/10 times, with an all-around back-and-forth battle.

Agreed with all points. Back when Tito was a "middleweight" the weight limit was 200 (or 199, not sure).
Yeah, Horn and Babalu fought in that famous event of IFC... "Global Domination". They met in the final.
On his way to the final Babalu beat Trevor Prangley and Shogun.
And Horn (subbed someone in the first fight, then) KO'd Forrest Griffin in the semi with a high kick+some GnP.
It's been a long time since I saw the fight... Babalu basically controlled the fight with his wrestling. He put Horn on his back a bunch of times and dished out some strikes but was never near a stoppage. That's how I remember it anyway.

in that CC is overrated along wth the majority of pride fighters.
i would also put a fedor/ gonzaga fight at about a 50/50 (actually probably a slight edge to fedor)
ive watched many kongo fights. incredible striker. i think kongo is a more effective striker because of his brute strength and all around athletic ability/reach/height.
granted kongo is quite possibly the worst hw fighter in the ufc ive seen as far as take down defence goes.

I still wanna see Saku vs Hickson , but will never happen
As far as Fedor having a slight edge over Gonzaga .... i think thats understating it a little. Are these Pride vs UFC fighter bash fests ever gonna stop ?
