If they keep their options open and tell UFC "well, Pride offered us 15&15, can you do better if you want my fighter?" then they would get MUCH better deals.
|
if im not mistaken thats what brandon vera's people tried to do, except that they were lies and they left Vera hangin out to dry a little while before he fired them

Your going off the statement "theres people who are wanting to pay me alot more money" as factual? Cmon, Leban knows he's on the way out the door if he dosnt shape up and start winning he's playing games... that is to make himself look more appealing than he really is so the UFC will realize what their missing in his point of view. If you belive this statement from him that people are fighting just to sign him on as a lead trainer and are willing to give him large sums of money,I will tell you I have invented a tree thats grows cash....do you want to buy some seeds?

Is it that unbelievable? There are lots of MMA organizations starting up all over the place, and Chris Leben has a large fan base, he's an entertaining fighter, and he's well known. He's fought most of the UFC MW division's best talent. Obviously he's a big fish swimming in shark infested waters, but why wouldn't a small pond be willing to pay him? He could almost be the main attraction for some orgs.
I think it's a smart move on Leben's part. His only other option is to take another run at the title, and if he fails again he'll be left with very little appeal.

Nice, so now you're pissy attitude is directed at me instead of Leben. Well i'm actually here to talk back, so good luck. Where did i say i'm going off the statement "theres people who are wanting to pay me alot more money"? I did not, and trying to put words in my mouth isn't going to cut it. I'm going off the fact that a promotion is hiring him as the head of their new gym. If they are interested in him to the point that they are making him a head instructor, i am willing to bet they are willing to give him better than 10k to show + 10k to win. But hey, if you want to disagree, lets bet on it. If Leben leaves the UFC i will bet you 2:1 points that he makes better than 10k. So put up or shut up, because just having a nasty attitude isn't going to get you anywhere with me. Or anyone else for that matter.

That is the perfect analogy. Nicely said sir.

small ponds don't have money to pay big in general. leban puts on a good show even if he in out cold on the mat. great fighter, no but entertaining yes.
if he thinks he can bluff zuffa by holding this "phrase" over their head i think he is sadly mistaken. believe it when i say they will let him go. the talent pool in ufc and pride is HUGE now, lebens presence will be small and him leaving will not put a dent in this mma organization.
dana will tell him to walk.

I liked Leben. But, if he can make more elsewhere, then he should. At $10k per fight and $10k per win, Leben made about $140k in his eight fights. I am unsure what his sponsors might have paid him in that time. I think that he deserved better than a 10k/10k deal.

I honestly couldn't care less if Leben stays or goes.

I just don't believe he's got a better supporter than the UFC.

I like the guy but he Is not going to make or break the 185 Division , If he wants more money to be accepted as a non techincal sound fighter thats alittle crazy at times , I am sure some of the other MMA leagues would have more luck with him anyways . Kinda funny he is already at the mind set that he doesn't make enough LOL someone might need to remind him you gotta beat the top guys to make the top dollar , just because he has lots of fans from the show that doesn't mean you should be making massive coin, 10 grand per fight and a extra 10 for winning , even if he only fights 3 times a year and accutally wins all of them thats 60 Grand ? thats more then a everage person makes and the best part you can live and support a family for doing something he loves so If he wants to complain about money I hope he does move on.

He may make more than the average person(IF he wins all his fights), but the average person doesn't go through what he does for his job. Or work as many hours. Fighters of Leben's calibre deserve more than 10k + 10k to win. He does not have the best technique, but that's also comparing him to the top of his division. Some of the best in the world. And he still beats a lot of these guys with better technique than him, so who cares? More importantly he makes it exciting. Add to that the fact that technique improves, he obviously has the heart and toughness. A 6-2 record in the UFC is impressive, especially when you factor in that one of those losses is to the current champ. Who steamrolled through the former champion just as easily. I'm not trying to say he deserves even 40k a fight, but an extra 5 or 10 k doubles his earnings without being a big hit to the UFC. I think he deserves it considering the buys and ratings he's helped bring in.

Good, let him go to ICON if its what is better for his career. I hate Leben but I like anyone who stands up to Dana for what is best for thier career.

i think he should stay, he is an aggressive fighter, i hope he comes with a big bang at UFC 71, im hoping for him to have a KO win over him. hopefully this should take him somewhere like UFC giving more, because he deserves it. His lost to Anderson was bad and then came back with a KO awesome and then a lost to Jason McDonald was only my submission so i hope and he wins in a devastating fashion and he will for sure wins

Leben will nevr be a top guy. However he is a somewhat exciting fighter, because he always brings it. He is more fit to kickstart a show the right way, or to follow up the 1st main event and keep the show rolling.(UFC always has 2 "Big" fights per ppv and they throw a fight in between them usually)UFC needs to replace him with a similarly styled fighter if they let him walk
