Yeah, I agree. It really sucks, because over the last few months I've finally started paying attention to Pride and trying to get my friends to do the same.

Yeah, I got hooked on Pride over the last few months too. Seems like now there's not going to be much of a point in watching it anymore if this continues. I like the UFC, but it and Zuffa are really ruining Pride, which is/was a great organization.

If Shogun fights, then Babalu seems the likely opponent, as he gave him his only defeat (the Coleman travesty does not really count in my book).
But, aside from that, I do not believe this would make a good fight at all. The first fight was in a tournament setting. A fresh Rua would destroy Babalu in the first round, just like Liddell did twice.

While this is outstanding news, how will they be able to have a "Super Bowl of MMA" now that Shogun and Big Nog are now in the UFC? If they happen to land 1 or 2 more top guys (i.e. Fedor, Henderson, etc.), it pretty much makes that event a non-factor.
If the PRIDE deal really hasn't gone through yet, perhaps this is a subtle threat? ... Along the lines of 'if you don't sell we're going to slowly pick off your talent.'
Great news for the UFC, but it's a little odd if they truly intend to keep PRIDE strong.

I'm willing to bet that Shogun signed a deal that will allow him to fight in both Pride and UFC. Fedor alluded to a contract that would allow him to do that in his interview.

Sounds awesome.
Shogun is the guy that should have come first to the UFC.
He's already beaten pretty much everyone at PRIDE.
And Chuck (maybe) has soon beaten everyone at UFC.
Perhaps?

I know what your saying Heat. I guess if shogun comes to the ufc and lets say he fights a top ufc Lhw.(Rashad, Jardine, Babalu ect.)............................us being hardcore fans can always have that pride ufc fight in our hearts lol.

just watching shogun, a huge part of his game is stomping and kicking while the guys are down... hes obviosuly a wicked fighter...very impressive knees
but not being able to stomp might make it difficult for him to finish opponents... watching his highlights, he doesnt have any clear knockouts, and his ground and pound doesnt look too impressive

I don't know about "huge part".
Usually when he gets to stomping or soccer kicks, the fight is about to end anyway.
He beat Rampage with pretty much only standup.
And he finished both Arona and Overeem on the ground with punches. Or punch, in the case of Overeem.
I think he'll be just fine.

Didn´t stop him from pounding Alistair Overeem into the ground, under Unified Rules, in Vegas.

I been saying It from the start Zuffa/ UFC bought Pride to slowly destroy It and to be honest I think once they get Fedor which they will Pride will be on its last legs , then when Dan henderson / Gomi / get Nick Diaz back It will be complete . Shogun being signed Is amazing news and I truly believe he will be the one that stops Chuck terror in MMA.
Awesome news wether its 100% true yet I dunno but thanks for the guys that found the Info .

If Shogun will be on 72, I am wondering who will he fight and it will determine for me, if UFC 72 is worth buying.

a good fight would be Machida, but he's the only LHW worth a damn who isn't already fighting right now
edit- babalu would be alright, but i'm sure he's still on suspension after his TKO loss
