Why can't the UFC do it?
Hi everybody..
Just wondering.. why is it ok for the IFL to do an event in Chicago, IL but the UFC can't??
Few weeks ago they were discussing whether to sanction it in Illinois.. and this week we have the IFL in here!!!
Am I missing something guys??

You might be interested in this article. The UFC has gone on record saying that they will not hold a show in a state that does not legally sanction MMA. The article points out that Illinois gives special waivers to some promotions, but sanctioning does not exist, which likely means the IFL was not required to submit medical records and drig testing to have their event there. Not saying the IFL is guilty of anything, its just thats part of the sanctioning process that Illionois currently does not have. Hopefully the new law passes soon.

Florida has sanctioned MMA, but each company wishing to have an event must get approval. I can't believe how much it will cost for us to move into Florida. Everyone's making money off of MMA these days.
