Anderson Silva quotes
Quote:
|
In the April issue of FightSport magazine, there is a tiny section where Anderson Silva gives a few words to describe fighters he is asked about. He had very complimentary things to say about Rich Franklin, Mike Swick, Loiseau, Fedor and Chuck Liddell amongst others. But when asked about Wanderlei Silva, he said, "No comment." When asked about Rudimar, he said "He has a bad attitude." And when asked about Matt Hughes, Silva said, "He is a dwarf who is full of himself."
|
I dont have a link. I will look for one. I just think it is funny he is talking trash on Hughes when he couldnt stop Lutter from taking him down as if he ever fights Hughes he will be in real trouble. Then saying no comment about Wany. HAHA he is trying so hard to get Chute Boxe to forget about him. I wonder if he ever does have to fight a former teammate if he will pull a tito and run from it... or talk trash in the pre fight interviews... or just act like nothing happened. I cant wait!

Silva wanted the fight to go to the ground so he could submit and embarrass Lutter by defeating him at his own game (which is exactly what he did)....
Silva would absolutely destroy Hughes...He's got some long ass legs and some of the best striking in mma that Hughes wouldn't get inside to take him down.......

I don't see what's wrong with what he said. There are lots of fighters that don't like other fighters. He didn't say something like Hughes couldn't take him down or he is better than Hughes, he just said he thinks Hughes is full of himself. FTR I do think Hughes could take him down but I think Silva could sub him when the fight hit the ground.

I don't know that he'd "destroy Hughes." As much as I dislike Matt's personality and demeanor, he's still a bad mofo. Granted, if Silva did keep it on the feet it would likely be over in the first 2 minutes, but if Hughes got it to the ground I don't think he could ever get Hughes off or submit him. Silva just doesn't have very good takedown defense and he's never actually won via a submission hold (two submission wins via strikes).

Ya im not sure about "destroy".
If it stayed standing then no question, matt hughes has proven two things he is amazing on the ground, and not to great standing.
But most if not all of silva's losses come from the ground.

1. He called it like it is. The only "trash talking" he did was call Hughes a dwarf. Which is pretty damn funny. Hughes has been talking about wanting Silva for a while and saying he would take him down at will. I'd respond too. I wouldn't say he's trying to make Chute Box forget him. I'd say he's handling an awkward situation with class.
2. He did NOT want the Lutter fight to go to the ground. And he was losing while it was there, which is exactly why.
3. A Silva-Hughes fight could go either way. I'd favor Silva.

His last fight with Lutter was actually a win via choke. At first most people (including me) thought it was the strikes to the head that finished Lutter, but Lutter actually admitted that he was submitted, so he tapped.
I also don't see much wrong with what Silva has said. I think that Silva may win a fight with Hughes, but it could really go either way.

Silva is a tall 185 and Matt Hughes is well, not tall at all. That right there would pose a huge problem for Matt. I don't think Silva is near the athlete that GSP is and a takedown is inevitable, but his striking is superior to GSP's IMO. Plus Silva's limbs are so long, another sub victory would be a good prediction too. Either way, I believe Hughes is put to sleep one way or another in a 5 rounder.

I saw the Lutter v. Silva fight, and now that you mention it I do recall Lutter saying he tapped to the triangle. My mistake, Full Contact Fighter had it listed as a submission due to strikes. So I guess he has 1 victory via submission hold. Point is that he's hardly a guy who is known for submitting his opponents. I think Hughes has a clear advantage over Anderson Silva on the ground. I don't think he'd have a chance in hell if it stayed on the feet. Thing is, I don't think Silva could keep it on the feet. It seems like the classic striker vs. grappler matchup.

I believe after Silva lost 2 fights via submission...he went out to get his blackbelt....that just shows the dedication this guy has....

I like Anderson even more now haha.
But then again, who likes Hughes anymore? Except for opsy, of course.
And what does him trash talking Hughes have to do with the fact that Hughes might have him in trouble? It didn't stop Serra from doing the same thing.
If he wouldn't tell how he felt about someone because he thought he might lose a fight to him later, wouldn't that be worse?
I know Hughes would kick my ass, but it doesn't stop me from talking either.
PS. Silva would put Hughes in la-la-land just like his former team-mate Pele did.
-------------
As for him trying to get Chute Boxe to forget him... he says "no comment".
While Chute Boxe still seem to have some grudge with this guy. Wanting to train his opponents, talking **** etc.
I like both CB and Anderson, but I have no idea who's the "bad guy" here, if anybody.
You clearly don't like Silva and adore Chute Boxe, so you draw your own conclusions from a "no comment".
I don't think Anderson would mind giving Ninja or any other Chute Boxe middleweight a beating.

haha "Matt Hughes is a dwarf" thats classic. I think Hughes vs. Silva would be close with Matt winning on the ground and Silva winning the stand up.

This is true. I think flipper likes him too. But I stay out of threads when Hughes is in the equation.

Is Hughes talking about moving up to MW? If not, then why would he talk about fighting the MW champ?

Back when Silva beat Franklin, Hughes had said before the fight that if Silva beat Rich, he would move up and fight Silva....put your money where you mouth is Hughes =)

He mentioned the possibility of that leading up to the Silva-Franklin fight. He was the WW champ back then and said that if Franklin would lose, he would consider moving up and fighting Silva.

I recant my previous statement. Rich lost @ 64, Hughes lost @65. I think he's more worried about the WW title first. Also,if he were to challenge Silva now, people would say he's scared of GSP. Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't.
