Okami vs Franklin
This should be an interesting fight. We have Franklin who is very capable of climbing back to conteder status even though the talent pool has thickened quite extensivly in the middle weight division. Then we have Okami, who IMO comes from a more violent and talented program...Pride. (I guess that is just my opinion)
The only thing that makes me feel Okami could lose is I felt he should have KOed or subbed Swick, going to a decision isn't real impressive. I am not taking anything from Swick, he is a good fighter and all its just that I expected Okami to finish him. As far as talent goes I felt Okami actually looked a lot better than Swick.

This thread with a poll.
I wouldn't really consider Okami a PRIDE fighter personally.
As far as going to decision with Swick. It's not easy to finish other top talent.
Loiseau went to decision with Franklin (in 5 rounds too), then Loiseau went to decision with Swick, and Swick went to decision against Okami.

What's not impressive about winning a decision?
Do you boo fights when they go to the ground....?
[EDIT] Also, Yushin Okami has fought in the UFC more then he has fought is Pride. I guess that makes him a UFC fighter.

I do agree with you HOWEVER, the only reason Loiseau went 5 rounds with Franklin is because He was fighting him with a broken hand for 3 rounds...

If this fight spends more time on the feet Rich should have the clear advantage of landing a bomb and ending it with a flurry which will have to be stopped by the ref because I don't think there is a chance of Okami quitting.
If the fight heads to the ground look for a slow but steady GNP from Okami and pulls off a decision .

Yeah, I agree now that I've thought about this fight more. I still haven't seen Kalib Starnes v Okami... can't find that fight anywhere.

Okami wins by overpowering his opponents. Do you HONESTLY! think that he can overpower Franklin in a million years?

I think he will over power him. Rich has a lot of injuries, and he usually overpowers people because he's bigger. He won't be bigger this time and he won't be stronger. I still think he'll win because there's three rounds, and Rich has three chances to knock him out. If it goes to decision I think there'll be some hard to score rounds, but I don't think it will. Rich has to be able to stun him sooner or later, chase him to the ground and finish him off.

In 23 fights, Okami has exactly one KO/TKO victory in under 2 minutes and that was 3 1/2 years ago. Do you really think he's gonna wipe the floor with Frankin in under 2 minutes?! No way. By contrast Anderson Silva has 3 KO/TKOs out of 22 fights and one other after 2:02. Yes, Okami holds a win over Silva, but that was due to a DQ after an illegal kick by Silva.
Like others have said, Okami primarily relies on GnP, but there's not way he's going to be the bigger, stronger fighter in this bout. Franklin is as big and strong as a 185er gets.

Yeah, there's no sure of way knowing. None of us have seen these guys in the gym doing their squats or cleans or dead lifts. I just assume Okami to be stronger because of Rich's injuries (remember Mike Goldberg saying Rich can't play basketball because of injuries?) and because of the manner in which Okami defeated Swick.
If some of you are right and Rich Franklin is stronger than Okami, then Okami has no chance in hell at winning this fight.

Just because Rich cuts the most weight at middleweight and has big muscles, doesn't mean he's the STRONGEST guy at middleweight.
Matt Lindland would manhandle Rich in a clinch and he doesn't look anything like a beefcake.

Not taking anything from winnng by decision, its just that is isn't as dominant as a ko or tko. When fighters go to decision that leaves the whole match in speculation, all the fans argue back and forth to who won and why. I do believe a win is a win no matter what, but any fighter will tell you he was disappointed to win my decision rather than sub or ko.

Franklin is going to wear Okami out. His standup is miles ahead of Okami's and unlike Swick he's going to be strong enough to keep it on the feet. Personally I think Rich is probably going to be the bigger, stronger fighter. Even if he isn't he just has to be strong enough to keep it on the feet.
Franklin by TKO in the 2nd round.

Yeah, I've heard the same about Tito. I'd say he and Rampage are probably about the strongest 205ers out there.
