Penn vs Pulver "The Upset"
Lots and lots and lots of upsets happening recently that have been costing Kent alot of points. Do you think it will be a huge upset if Pulver beats Penn? Is it equivalent to Serra beating GSP or maybe Rampage beating Chuck?
The matchup is actually quite similar to ChuckvRampage, they fought before and Rampage dominated Chuck the first time but Chuck went on to become one of the best 205'ers in the world while Rampage had quite a few struggles. Fight #2 comes around and Chuck is the heavy favorite because everyone thinks he's "evolved" and Rampage has been stagnant but Rampage KTFOs Chuck in Round 1.
Penn v Pulver, the first time they fought Pulver might not have dominated Penn like Rampage did Chuck but he still won nonetheless. But coming into fight 2 Penn is a HUGE favorite because everyone thinks he's "evolved" and Pulver hasn't. Is this going to end up like Chuck vs Rampage?

funny thing is if it goes exactly like the last one BJ wins. He won the 1st 2 rds Jens won the last 3.

I dunno, jens havin the win over him i think is more motivation for penn.
I dont really care for penn, but im not sure on this one.
I don't really see how anyone can say he has evolved, he has not shown anything since he returned to the UFC, other then after the second round he is gased.

I honestly see this fight going the same as the first. BJ winning round 1... doing enough to win round 2... almost getting KOed in round 3... and winning a decision. It sucks... I am hoping for a Jens KO in the first 3 minutes.

I'm pretty sure Penn was regarded as the favourite in the first fight, yet the upset happened nonetheless. Pulver has already proven that if he can get himself into the right mindset, he can beat Penn. However, if I were a betting man, I'd definitely be putting money down on Penn.

How is BJ winning a decision the same as the first? Seems kinda backward to me considering Pulver won the first fight.
Penn losing wouldn't be an upset. If he is the favorite, it isn't a large favorite. i think an upset would be where one fighter is considered by most people that they don't have a chance. Pulver has a very good chance of winning this fight especially if the fight goes into the second round cause we all know Penn will gas by then (yes, that is a ******** comment for you Penn lovers).

Way to not understand my post... I said "I honestly see this fight going the same as the first." Which i then clarified for people who didnt see the fight and only use sherdog for information by saying "BJ winning round 1... doing enough to win round 2... almost getting KOed in round 3..." where now the fight will end but when they fought the first time their was two more rounds that went with more of BJ losing control and Penn picking away at him which gave him the win. I dont know if you noticed but neither of them are holding any belts. This fight is for 3 rounds... if BJ wins the first 2 like last time and Pulve wins the 3rd like last time... BJ wins.... sorry i didnt think i was going to have to break it down this hard for someone but you never know...

No that's fine, i forgot that the first fight was five rounds. It makes sense now. You probably could have just said the first fight was five rounds and I only took the first three, but that worked also.

I don't think Pulver will KO Penn so My pick will be Penn by submission in the first round.

It seriously saddens me that you ruin every good post you make because you feel compelled to insult someone. You have a lot of MMA knowledge, but it amounts to nothing when you throw "fight finder" and "obviously haven't seen ___ fight" into the majority of your posts. It accomplishes nothing but making you look like a condescending jerk. Regardless, i expect the same as you. Penn takes 1 and 2, losses the third, wins a decision. I would not consider it a huge upset if Penn were to lose, but it would be an upset as Pulver will definitely be the underdog.

Pulver beating BJ would be a big upset. Not quite the magnitude of Serra-GSP though.
Jens has the striker's chance. I'm actually more nervous about this fight than I was about BJ's fight with Hughes just because of that (and the fact that he's coming off two losses - impressive losses, but still losses).
BJ's shown he has a great chin (and great striking himself) though, and I'm hoping he doesn't go in there to make a statement or something by standing. Just take him down and dominate him. Hopefully stop him.

I don't think penn pulver compares to rampage liddell.
And I don't think rampage beating liddell was that big of an upset. An upset yes, big no.
Furthermore, I don't think it will be an upset if penn beats pulver. Nor an upset if pulver wins.

Penn is the clear favorite going into this.
So that would make Pulver's win an upset.
Whether it would be surprising to you, is another story.
