Default How long until we see a great???

I know there are a lot of great MMA fighters out today. They are all real good, but when are we going to see "the one"....

Do you guys ever think there is going to be a Ali, or Jones in the MMA world? Some one so great that they make great fighters look like clowns. A fighter raised on MMA. I just think of Jones dominating these great boxers......

I concur. Fedor's probably a modern day icon. Though, there have been several greats. Like Royce, Bas, Big Nog, W. Silva, etc. But, Fedor rolls over all them.

Agree with Danny here. No one has dominated the top of the sport like Fedor.

Aren't we supposed to be talking about the UFC?

I dont think we will ever have a great like a new michael jordan, until UFC is popularized. Once its a top sport like football or basketball, we will eventually find 'the one'. But until the sport is sport is popular enough, no one fighter will make a name for himself like Ali, Beckham, or M. Jordan.

One way of doing this is by signing a contract with ESPN, and having free ufc televised events, instread of payin 30$. The aeverage man would never even think about paying 30$ for a football game.

The question wasn't specified as a "UFC" great. So I'm sure it is okay to say Fedor.

Sure, but you are in the "UFC" forum. There are Pride and K-1 forums elsewhere. I'm not saying Fedor isn't great, I'm saying that in the UFC Forum we should be talking about the UFC, for the most part. But that's just me. I guess sometimes I pay too much attention to detail.

Yes it is okay to talk about other organizations in the various forums. As long as you aren't saying "Who is the best Pride fighter?" in the UFC forum. Then that would not make too much sense.

Anyway Fedor is the greatest MMA fighter period. I wouldn't be surprised if he goes an undefeated champion until retirement.
