everyone is riding the gonads of matt hughes yes he is a great champ but in my opinion he needs to call out bj penn and redeem the humiliating loss he recieved from penn hughes will always lack some respect from me until he fights penn again

I don't think we will see any kind of rematch, BJ Penn wont go back to the UFC, Matt Hughes won't leave the UFC.... I just don't see it happening unless theres some colabaration between whoever Penn is with and UFC

How could you lack some respect for the guy? He has no control whether he fights BJ or not. He is the greatest champion that the UFC has ever had. He has defended the title like 6 times or so only losing to BJ. IMO he deserves utmost respect out of any fighter that has stepped foot in the octagon.

Hughes is a great champion, a great fighter and has never ducked anyone. He can't call out BJ Penn due to "politics". Don't blame him, and please do your research before you bash a great fighter like Matt.

For real, because someone beat him once he doesn't deserve respect? That's crazy. He's the greatest UFC champ to date. He never ducks anyone. How bout when Newton wanted a rematch. Matt even admited he lost concisousness during the slam and so gave him a rematch right away. That was a classy thing to do and he definitely redeemed himself from that. If he could fight BJ you know he would.

That fight between Hughes and Penn was the first time i have seen Matt Hughes clearly overwhelmed. If there were to be a rematch with Penn, who's to say Matt Hughes would even win? And what would something like that do to his credibility after being a coach for TUF. That fight can wait, Matt Hughes has enough guys to take on right now as it is.

im entitled to my opionion on hughes i dont care for the guy yes hes a nice person seems like just not my kind of fighter believe it or not when jordan played basketball some people didnt like him and he was the greatest player of all time

Gotta step in here. Not bashing Matt and he is one of the best fighters ever but I think Frank Shamrock had a better title defense record. Tito was up there a long time too..

who would win between Hughes and Franklin? I like Matts chances

Well Frank only fought 5 times in UFC. I think he defended the title 3 times. I may be wrong. I can't remember if the fight against Lober was a title match. Either way that is like comparing apples and oranges. Matt only has one loss. He is the best champ that the UFC has ever had, and he is a classy guy.

The matchup with Franklin would be tough. I don't know if Matt could handle Rich with him being taller. That may prove to be challenging for him. I think Rich would be the best striker he has faced yet.

I think Matt has a better title defense then Frank Shamrock, Frank didn't have the toughest competition back then. I think Frank defended his title against two guys who had beaten him earllier in his career, plus Jeremy Horn, in the UFC.

Hughes and Franklin are in different divisions, plus they are friends, and team mates. They won't ever fight, but if Matt were to step up I think Rich has a better overall game.

i dont think that Matt could handle Rich. he would most def be the best striker he has faced but that will never happen for reasons prev stated.

Yes Frank was primarily a Pancrase fighter. But he technically is an undefeated MW champ as well. Don't forget about that. He is also in talks to fight in October I believe. Sorry I got a bit off topic but I just had to mention it.

I know the fight will never happen but it is still fun to discuss. A fight I really want to see again is Sherk and Hughes. It would be like fighting a clone of himself. It is weird how similar they look. Anyone else think that?

Sherk has his only loss from Matt. You can bet if Sherk does well in the smaller promos he'll be back in the UFC and you'll see Matt vs Sean, depending on where GSP is at the time.

That's because they probably think the way he is instructed to be on TUF is how he really is. I've kind of picked up on that. Matt is not like that in real life. I think it is funny how they call it "reality television" when it is far from reality. Anyway that is a whole different story. Anyway Hughes is incredible and I hope that the rematch with Sherk does happen.
